It could be a mistake but look how bid plus suddenly disappeared out of the green!
The EPG for Price Drop on Freeview has only "Channel No Longer Available" for the foreseeable future. I wonder if the Bid Plus EPG is going out on there for some reason? They seem to be using the Speed Auction text on the ticker again as well.

Whatever the EPG issue was, it appears to be fixed now.

On Bid just now, they started doing a 'non stop drop' hour (promoted most of the evening). The rules of such a drop, they claim, are that the price continues to fall until either they reach £1 or the quantity drops to 0. The first item got to £2.99 before Peter Simon started talking of frozen computers. They then tried to do some earrings, which they couldn't get any graphics on screen for.
They then got a small quantity of expensive rings which went quickly, before totally scrapping the "non stop drop hour" entirely and instead doing "prices to clear" - seems rather like they didn't get the response they were hoping for to me.

If that were the case, they would surely just adjust the quantity to account for the lack of interest which they would have been well aware of before the non-stop drop even started anyway. I'm more willing to believe it was actual problems with their system than any underhand tactics.
How long have Bid and Price Drop had the problem were the last frame of whatever was shown during the previous break will appear as the first frame of the next break. It must have been happening for months, I can't imagine them without that problem now. What causes it?

Since for as long as I can remember, I know it's anal - but it really bugs me... the director should really wait till the VT starts rolling then cut to it, although saying that, they are sooooo slow at cutting to break VT's at the best of times.
A channel I worked at many years ago had the exact same issue, and it was just how the particular server worked, it would always hang on the last frame of the previous VT, until the next was played, despite cueing it.

Because that would affect the timing they were going for? Aside from the ear rings, they did seem to go through all the products on the table. I don't understand what sort of bug could have caused them not to be able to non-stop drop but to be able to sell stuff they way they normally do?

That would make sense in the days of video tape with VT clocks on the front of them but surely the current situation is a problem with the configuration rather than finger trouble in the gallery. It seems to happen on both channels whoever is in the gallery.
Avago had a worse problem. The video would play for around a second, pause for less than a second and then start playing again. Every single time. There were promos that I never saw play out correctly.
The timing issue is simple to deal with. Just don't show the graphics until a certain point in to the presentation or show them but don't start the drop until a certain point in the presentation or change the speed that the drop happens. Instead of taking 10p off each second, take 5p off each second.
As for the problem, using nothing more than my imagination, I can come up with various scenarios that may or may not have been the cause of the problem. The items could have been loaded on to the system without the 'allow non stop drop' box being ticked or it turned out the person controlling the price did not have the correct permission on the system to drop prices below the items minimum price or there was a case of violent diarrhoea in the call centre that meant there weren't enough people to take the calls that would be generated by the excitement associated with a non-stop drop. Anything is possible.

I am currently watching bid, and "bid cruise bargains" is on with someone called John Cooper. Has this been going on long? The graphics appear to be a static recreation of the normal graphics - they actually look slightly nicer than the normal graphics as some of the text is in a thinner font. The number is also an 0800 number.
I can't tell if it's live or not, and it's in a set I don't recognise (it's presumably in the old speed auction studio).
EDIT: It was apparently a paid presentation for the Liverpool Cruise Club - they appear to have their own channel already, so the studio may be one of theirs.

It appears to be a different company this time, with their own presenters. The cruises must have gone down well before.
