Theming up the studios seems to be the order of the day at the moment, so I wouldn't be surprised if they go for something more like Bid's studio - i.e. relatively plain, easy to add decoration to, colour changing lights etc.

Although, that said, the current PD studio isn't that old - so it might just be a refresh rather than a wholesale change?

It's possible, but would a refresh take this long? We'll have to wait and see I suppose. I do reckon if they did go for a full redesign that they would make it as flexible as possible.

The most recent Price Drop studio was pretty random in my opinion, the side to the left of the steps was nice, but the rest was either far too much plain wall or cheap irrelevant brick wallpaper with badly lit fake windows.

I'd love to see both channels go back to their early days, simple clean sets (without plasma screens and video walls) with two pods, one on either side of the studio that they ping pong between with no other products cramping the set.

The problem with them trying to cram so many different presentation areas into all of there studios, is the lighting is rarely very even.

I don't think the screens are much of an issue (price drop have always had them)

The very first set (their best IMO) had no screens...

I forgot that set didn't have screens, although I certainly remember the price phallus and the chevrons. To be honest, it's a bit sparse for my liking.

They introduced screens while they still had that studio. Then they switched to the large monitors when they re-vamped it the first time.

Didn't they have 2 plasmas in there to begin with - shortly followed by the 2 video walls?

They did, they had 2 plasmas as shown here
Then they had 2 video walls in the second incarnation of that set.

It looks like we could see new the new price-drop studio tomorrow. Searching through twitter, Eilidh Nairn says they're in the bid plus set until today.

The lighting is terrible at the moment in studio 3 (former Bid Plus)... the white balance of the invision camera is also way off compared to the close up camera.

It looks pretty crap. I wish they'd have worked with the old Speed Auction set rather than just having an expanse of white painted walls.

I am not a usual viewer of this thread, and this question may well already have an answer, but why did Speed Auction close? Was it failing, did they fancy a change?!

Wow the new Price Drop studio is amazing... massive improvement Laughing

In all seriousness, looks like its just the floor that has been given a touch up...

It took them three days to just change the floor?! Bid managed to paint their walls over night! Laughing

I guess you can just throw a load of covers over everything when painting a set, whereas when you're reflooring you have to actually take all of the stuff out of the studio (or at least off the set floor).

Re: Speed Auction (I can't quote your post in Neon for some reason)
Apart from the period last Christmas where it aired on Freeview, I can't see how it was profitable. Most items would have a quantity of 10 or less, they'd be at the same prices give-or-take £1 as Bid/Price Drop, and often they would sell less than 3 items before moving on.

I don't know if it was profitable when they did rising prices.
