Above and beyond any discussion as to whether the kebab ident in itself is insensitive/linked to the fire, taking it out of circulation means you don't accidentally run it at a very bad time - say before Newsnight.

Don’t know how many times this static BBC Action Line graphic has been used on BBC2 Network (can't be more than a small handful), but good to see a proper HD resolution text and logo. Slightly too much gap between the “are free” on the bottom row for me, though.

They used it several times earlier this year after Hospital and the word spacing looked a lot better then (spare the line spacing between 'BBC Action Line' and the URL, IMO).

Yes, this earlier version looks better (generally), though, unlike the latter version, the text is positioned too close to the slanted on-screen 2 and, as Cavan indicates, having that gap before the url is not great. The latter version looks far better in this regard.

Why would they even change it in the first place?
If it's not broken, don't fix it.

Slightly retro post.

So I'm listening to some music from Glastonbury and I hear some music that's really familiar during one band's set and didn't know where it was from. Couldn't get it out of my mind.

1 or 2 googles later to try and figure out where I'd heard it I discover that Alt-J are pretty good.

Depends if it was a pre-made slide or one that was typed up from a template graphic. Not up to date with how these things are generated but it's conceivable that it was remade because the old one wasn't on the system any more. Templated graphics are useful, but they can still go wrong as they are made by a computer working within set parameters. I find they are seldom quite as good as something made up by a good graphic designer or (in the old days) Aston operator. Once an Aston op, always an Aston op in my experience :- those who've made captions and slides on one of those things tend to be very picky about line spacing, kerning, fonts (or founts as Aston insisted on calling them) and style guides.

I suspect this was just 'typed up' without a keen graphics eye for spacing. Humans.

At 6.11am this morning, BBC2 Network marks 50 years - to the day - since BBC2 launched the first regular colour television service in Europe, by showing a reasonably lengthy playout of the 1967 ident, accompanied with an anno that is occasion-related.

Very nice. This is how classic pres should be used. Cool

....became the first in Europe AND in Britain to broadcast regular colour tv....

Odd contradictory statement !?

Yes, I was going to mention this. Sounded like a post-Brexit kind of statement, as if Britain is not wholly regarded as being inside Europe anymore!
