Scheduling fans, there are some ECP-based shenanigans going on as a result of the League Cup overrun, with Countryfile and Antiques Roadshow being cut from 60 to 45 minute slots.

I'm currently wondering if the BBC have prepared for a scheduling overrun and asked for both Countryfile and Antiques Roadshow to be delivered in both 60 and 45 minute durations to allow them to avoid running too late through the evening.

Currently BBC News expects to be on air a bit after ten and the regional news team have been told they will be on air only five minutes late for the late regional news.

Can't remember if this was discussed at the time, but I was under the impression if Nations continuity went down then the default was Network / England / London, so how come this happened?

Were NI & Wales showing the same programme, that wasn't being broadcast on England?

Having checked the schedule on the BBC One schedule there doesn't appear to be any variations.

I note our friend Mister Breakdown made an appearance during The Big Questions (again) - Matthew Jackson on duty, I think? The usual track was played; it ain't no 'Against The Clock' but I reckon it's alright.

Well yes, I can't think of any other way it could be done. There's not going to be someone in a edit suite hurridley hacking down the programmes to time

Aye, that's it. Nice of them to leave it unedited on iPlayer.

If a Nation is not 'in-circuit' then the dirty network-feed will pass through to the viewers.
However if there are technical problems in a Nation, any one of the other Nations outputs can be fed to the viewers instead.

If the technical problems are 'more serious', with a bit of notice to arrange staffing and for video files & schedules to be transferred, one of the other Nations can provide a fully branded service to the Nation affected. The example above isn't the only time an announcement on BBC ONE Wales has come from Belfast (and similarly there have been announcements on BBC ONE Northern Ireland, made from Cardiff).

Right OK, but why not from London, why from Belfast?

The reason why BBC ONE or BBC TWO Network from London is not branded England is in case of this sort of thing happening.

Do the Nations have non specific regional idents then?

(BTW posters are noticing the date of the You Tube upload, aren't they?)

If you are asking why that specific clip, which is a good few year's old, features an announcement from Belfast instead of London..... I can't remember the reason, but the most likely answer is that Wales's schedule that day was different to what London were showing (or about to show), so it made more sense to take the junction from Belfast.

I don't know what you mean by 'non specific regional idents'. Each Nation has its own idents, and a copy of the other Nations' idents.

I don't think the Broadcast Centre have any spare playout chains to rustle up a spare channel at the drop of a hat - whereas the nations do. There might be some sort of contractual reason too - Red Bee generally don't have a lot to do with the nations.

A few months ago, a fault developed overnight which meant Glasgow were unable to opt - so during Breakfast, their news studio was fed to Belfast, who used a spare playout chain to create their own version of BBC One Scotland, which was then sent down the line to coding & mux.

The fault was fixed just after 9, and Glasgow pres was put back into circuit - but the message hadn't yet got through to Belfast, who still did a Scotland-branded junction at 9.15 (which I think was probably only seen by me in CCA)

Sounds like there were some serious problems this morning with a lot of regions unable to opt on Freeview at 7.30 this morning, but fine on satellite.
