I can see how he comes across that way on SNT; knowing his sense of humour, to me it's tongue-in-cheek, he's doing it in an ironic manner to ostensibly upstage A&D. On BGMT he's always self-effacing: For instance he always claims he only has one viewer, he emphasises that the show doesn't win awards and sets up contestants to belittle him -- plus constantly lets himself be the butt of Ant and Dec's jokes. I've always found him down-to-earth and modest in 'real life'-- lovely guy.

I've only watched this season and the last season of SNT, so I can't discern whether the show has gone downhill. However I appreciate the show; as others have said, it's a bit of fun.

As for Gino's "sheet" carry on from last week: I don't think it's any worse than half of what Officer Crabtree used to say on Allo Allo, which is frequently repeated pre-watershed!

Did SNT run short on time tonight? Earlier in the show they asked for people to Tweet in their photos of them in wedding outfits and said it will appear in the show later. It didn't.

I know the Sofa segment ran a bit over.

Is next weeks episode pre-recorded or will it be liver on the deck of the ship? Must be a nightmare technically!

They showed 3 or 4 photos throughout the show I'm sure.

They said live for next week.

Oh. I must have missed them. Oops.

The surprised family coming in seemed to lose them time, and they were tight for time thereafter, plus they couldn't run over a couple of minutes like they usually do, as the football already had a tight pre-match slot.

I honestly don't know how anyone couldn't realise Stephen Mulhern's 'ego' is a recurring joke as opposed to an actual thing. It seems obvious to me that he's deliberately putting it on, especially having seen him on other shows where as you said he appears more self-depreciating.

Stuff the football. The committee already makes things awkward as it is by scheduling matches in the evening. It's like they're deliberately trying to ruin the TV schedules. Why can't they schedule all matches for early or late afternoon instead when there's nothing on TV anyway? Not everybody likes football.

Well luckily for you they'll be about 47 Saturdays this year without football in primetime. In most countries there is nothing on Saturday night, and this match would have been scheduled to suit the German broadcaster. ITV may have preferred the football followed by SNT at 7.30, though ultimately the only things sacrificed from last night's schedule was a You've been Framed repeat and You're back in the Room.
