Indeed when any show (on ITV at least) brings their warm up man on to screen it seems to be Andy Collins.

Who I have to admit I'm not too keen on. I've seen him in action when I've attended TV shows in the past and he does exactly what they showed him doing tonight with the audience: Getting everyone to make a fool of themselves. I'd rather sit and watch someone telling Christmas cracker jokes instead of being on my feet copying silly dance moves between breaks while filming.

Technically they're segways, not hoverboards. Actual hoverboards (as seen in Back To The Future II) don't exist (yet).

Anyway show wise, I suspect we're beginning to run out of steam far as as end of the show shows are concerned. And if Sofa Watch was anything to go by (Sofa Watch without a sofa? Really?) we may be running out of money...

They're not Segways either. That's a brand of self-balancing personal transporter.

EDIT: Just seen that this was already addressed.

I thought the Mel B "Get out of my ear" sketch was one of the best they've done. The rotating of features does though leave some shows feeling weaker than others but it is better than the same thing every week, but I think with the show having such a short run (7 episodes this year) we do end up feeling a bit short changed.

Agree a bit more variety in the End of the Show Show would be great (we might get our wish next week looking at the listings), whilst I'm not a huge fan of the new Start of the Show Show either - and don't get why they had to ditch the pre-titles sketch to do that.

However on the whole it is still the best entertainment show around and though the content may be lacking at time, I do actually think extending the show to 90 minutes has been a positive, giving items chance to breathe. I also think Ant and Dec clearly are enjoying it more than ever.

SNT has had 7 episodes per series since 2013. Before that it was 6 episodes.

Quick question, what was the name of the other show they did where the finale was that DAVE machine?

Don't understand some of the comments. Thought last nights show was one of the more entertaining ones of the series.
I guess it's all down to personal preference and what you personally enjoy. With the way they rotate features they're never going to please everyone! (Example: someone who only really enjoys undercover probably thought last night was poor whereas if you really enjoy get of my ear you would have loved it!).

And to suggest the reason they got rid of he sofas is because they couldn't afford to transport them is a ludicrous idea.

The lack of ideas/interest/money is becoming more and more stark, and I felt like this week really dragged... and I was watching a recording where I could skip the adverts.

I totally disagree. I think Saturday Night Takeaway is by far the second most entertaining show on TV after Doctor Who and television would be in a very sad, depressing state without it. It's a proper variety show and it certainly doesn't feel like it's running out of ideas to me.

I don't disagree with you. As I mentioned in that post, I don't like saying that because I think SNT is one of the best shows ITV have put out in recent years. I just think it doesn't deserve to be run into the ground. I'd rather it be given a break for a bit and see if they can do anything better with it after a few years. I completely disagree with you about Doctor Who though, but that's a comment for another thread at another time.

If you can call someone who presented a cheap, cut down daytime version of Family Fortunes hardly anyone watched 14 years ago "well known" Laughing

Of course, there was a documentary about warm-ups a few years back, including Andy Collins who talked about presenting Family Fortunes when it was axed, and then when it came back he was still involved, but as the warm-up.

Indeed when any show (on ITV at least) brings their warm up man on to screen it seems to be Andy Collins.

Because Andy Collins does loads of warm-ups. There aren't especially very many of them anyway, and if you get a reputation for doing good warm-ups, for a particular type of show anyway, you get loads of work. And while what he does may not appeal to everyone, it's clear the kind of person who wants to be in the audience for Ant and Dec is the kind of person for whom his shtick appeals.

Anyway, the best bit last night was Ant and David Tennant dancing.

Anyone spot Andy Collins the warm-up man at the start??? He used to present Family Fortunes!!! Very Happy Rolling Eyes

Far from unusual for big shows to use well know people for warm ups. Wogan and That's Life at the Television Theatre had Hi De Hi's Felix Bowness. And Countdown had the underrated legend that is Greg "Greggles" Scott of this parish, of course.

Hardly 'well-known'....
Andy also worked for the Paul O grady show.

And the Dancing On Ice arena shows.

The best part for me was the woman who thought she had been picked for the Win the Ads bit and she stood up dancing it was actually the woman behind her xD
