The lack of ideas/interest/money is becoming more and more stark, and I felt like this week really dragged... and I was watching a recording where I could skip the adverts.
I totally disagree. I think Saturday Night Takeaway is by far the second most entertaining show on TV after Doctor Who and television would be in a very sad, depressing state without it. It's a proper variety show and it certainly doesn't feel like it's running out of ideas to me.

I don't like saying it because I thought SNT was one of ITV's best shows in recent years, but it's becoming a shadow of its former self (again?) The hidden camera thing with Mel B is probably one of the worst ones they've ever done, although I am a little biased given I've grown to loathe Mel B after her abysmal input on The Big Fat Quiz of the Year. Also, after watching Impractical Jokers on Comedy Central, you realise how tame this attempt at the formula is compared to four not-particularly-famous friends from America.
Again, I completely and utterly disagree. Mel B's Get Out Of My Ear was the funniest one yet and somehow managed to beat Gino's and Louis Walsh's (not a mean feat). I think Mel B is always better when she's larking about as opposed to doing a serious show like X Factor (which she was awful on).

And as for The End of the Show Shows, they're becoming less and less spectacular, and have gone from a full-on ensemble performance to A&D d*cking around while a singer sings a song. I do hope they consider taking another hiatus rather than run it into the ground and it becomes unbearable. I wonder if the talk about them wanting to go into acting is a sign they're wanting to move on to other things. They've been doing the same three jobs for nearly ten years, even longer if you count just SNT and I'm a Celebrity.
I think it's more a case that the budget has been blown on other stuff such as Who Shot Simon Cowell, the voiceover artists (Hugh Jackman, next week's announcer, must have charged a lot), real life Pac-Man...

People do like to latch onto things and then run with them.
Can anyone explain how tonight's show felt like less money was spent compared to the previous three shows?
I love the idea that changing Sofa Watch to not feature a sofa, isn't a way to freshen up the item, but is actually because they can't afford to transport the sofa to the venue!
Regarding the end of the show show, they've presumably run out of big performances to do, so have gone with the Ant & Dec slightly take part in a musical act theme this series.
In the 90s people watched Noel Edmonds do the same show for 20 weeks a year, with much less rotation than there is on Takeaway. In 2016, people get bored of items by show 4.

I thought the Mel B "Get out of my ear" sketch was one of the best they've done. The rotating of features does though leave some shows feeling weaker than others but it is better than the same thing every week, but I think with the show having such a short run (7 episodes this year) we do end up feeling a bit short changed.
Agree a bit more variety in the End of the Show Show would be great (we might get our wish next week looking at the listings), whilst I'm not a huge fan of the new Start of the Show Show either - and don't get why they had to ditch the pre-titles sketch to do that.
However on the whole it is still the best entertainment show around and though the content may be lacking at time, I do actually think extending the show to 90 minutes has been a positive, giving items chance to breathe. I also think Ant and Dec clearly are enjoying it more than ever.

Wasnt the late late breakfast show on the air for 30 weeks a year?
Anyone spot Andy Collins the warm-up man at the start??? He used to present Family Fortunes!!!
I spotted him aswell, It must be what 12 years ago he did that, ie the cheap, daytime version.

Far from unusual for big shows to use well know people for warm ups. Wogan and That's Life at the Television Theatre had Hi De Hi's Felix Bowness. And Countdown had the underrated legend that is Greg "Greggles" Scott of this parish, of course.

Technically Segway is a brand name, so they're not that either. That's if you want to get technical and not just call them what everyone already calls them and therefore knows exactly what you mean by it.
Did I somehow manage to completely miss this week's "episode" or was it not shown?
Technically they're segways, not hoverboards.

A true hoverboard IMO is the BTTF style one that looks, behaves and fuctions like the one in the film. Those don't exist. The terms segway and hoverboard are admittedly used interchangeably and pretty much describe the same thing. Wiki defines those seen on the Takeaway as "A self-balancing two-wheeled board, or self-balancing electric scooter."
Who Shot Simon Cowell didn't appear tonight FYI.

If you can call someone who presented a cheap, cut down daytime version of Family Fortunes hardly anyone watched 14 years ago "well known"

Andy also worked for the Paul O grady show.
