The 5 Live 'Misery' show worked as she had a wider cross section of people who could contribute to the show, rather than relying on a small pool of people who they book in for the tv show.

5 Live didn't also have the issue of providing a show for two different groups, the BBC2 and rolling news audience.

VD just signed off by saying Joanna Gosling will present the programme tomorrow.

It'll be interesting to see if the reaction from Derbyshire's remaining viewers will be different when Joanna covers tomorrow?

One big difference in radio is that you can use phone calls to get 'real people' on-air, allowing a wider range of contributions and voices.

On TV that just looks ancient. Skype etc. can help - but there's only so much web cam you can watch... And a small studio contributor panel gets dull quickly too.

What makes good radio doesn't always make good television - and TV is, in many ways, more resource intensive as a result.

It may be a bank holiday, but VD is on for an extra 15 mins on Monday from 9-11am for a debate from Sheffield.

Is VD still banging on about 'lovely films' or has that been toned down ?

Someone clearly forget to tell her it's a three day weekend this weekend-I hope they give the show a break on future bank holidays and it better not be on during a certain fortnight at the end of this year.

"Christmas Day with Victoria Derbyshire" has a ring to it.

If the show even makes it to Christmas which i don't think it will-and if it does surely it will take the whole fortnight off anyway as they would be mad to show it on Christmas Day-in short no it doesn't have a ring to it.

No VD next Friday as BBC One's schedule moves to BBC Two and the NC has the Election programme on.

There is surely an obvious reason why Derbyshire's programme is on this particular Bank Holiday, the same reason why all the other news programmes are on as usual and the Ten O'Clock News is the usual length.
