Now more people have digital in theory they could have put one of the matches onto BBCi and then lets the news run as per normal on BBC1.

Surly that would be on PresTalk?

And if there was a thought of any doubt, a spoken anouncement from NC1?

PresTalk. You made that up, didn't you?

They use spoken announcements during a Network Recall.

Just during a network recall?

Network Control 1? Isn't that from several years ago? Surely it's different now they're at Red Bee.

The point is, it was the last 5 minutes of the match. Moving any match from channel to channel, would have caused unneccesary disruption

Harry Gration ad-libbed that Look North will follow at 6.40

That surprised me - I thought the heads would have been recorded like so much of the rest of Look North is.

I cannot stand Wimbledon it does my head in, as does Tim Henman, what also doesn't help is that for the time being there's no News on ITV at 6.00pm, so I was quite annoyed earlier. I just don't like how they give that soft twit known as Henman priority on BBC1, so what? Everyone has BBC2, put it on there, as you bloody well can't put Regional News on there, but luckily it didn't come to that tonight. At least he's out of it...

I also get annoyed by (mainly twee Southerners, no offence!) who consistently shout 'Go On Tim...!', like that's going to help...Rolling Eyes

Thats the end of my rant.

I'm sure in a news bulletin on the BBC this evening, they said that Henman's game had actually been brought forward in the day. I don't know by how far, but if it hadn't would the 6 o Clock news actually ended up being at 7.

The previous match was a walkover so Henman was brought about an hour forward. If this hadn't have happened I expect his entire game would have been on BBC2. The only reason why he stayed on BBC1 was because there was only a few minutes left in the match

No - the NC1 and NC2 names are still used by Red Bee Media. They didn't use NC3 and NC4 though when BBC3 and 4 came along - not sure why - possibly because they were originially called Choice and Knowledge? I have heard references to NC3 and BC4 recently though when talking about on and off-air times for live programmes.

"Presentation Talkback" as a name is less commonly used now, but a permanent talkback link from Red Bee to the Nations and Regions is still used for every junction (along with PresFax - a data stream which produces a teletext screen in regional centres detailing the schedule for the next junction). I'm sure NC1 will have given out as much information as they knew during the Henman overrun, but Wimbledon will have probably simply told Red Bee to take them off as soon as the match was over. It could have been called very late!

NC3 was introduced as the name for BBC Three/CBBC network control when the channel playout moved to the Broadcast Centre from TVC. Previously BBC Three/CBBC was played out from the MSA and the DTA - and these were the (ambiguous) designations used on talkback.

I think "Regional talkback" was the most common way of referring to the feed of talkback from NC1 (but switchable so that it could pass on talkback from other studios - like Breakfast and then the One/Six/Ten) to the English regions.
