Can someone please explain the bizarre voiceless teases, I know it's been bought up early in the thread immediately following the rebrand... But it just feels like a glitch and makes the idea of a tease obsolete, so why?

Speaking of the TOTH has it been ditched, getting fixed or are they making a new 1? its just had the sky news logo when I've seen it today from 2pm.

Sometimes they have a breakdown/standby/second TOTH version which is just an extended version of the opening frame. They had one during the blue, glossy, glass era which never showed the 'Live' story teases from the app and website and things.

I agree - I haven't got used to it. It definitely seems like something's missing.

I like the simplicity of the TOTH, but it needs more distinctive music to go with it, because as it is, the graphics and music together make it really bland. The actual title card flash of "Sky News Sunrise" etc looks very clean and tidy.

Is this also the end of the Sky News video wall then, unless they are building a new one in the new studios...

I've noticed that "News, Sport and Weather" is increasing it's way back onto EPG listings. Quite a few slots today, including the old Live At Five slots. Mistake?

Seems to be a mistake.

If they're going to resort to that style pf programming again in place of the key more in depth bulletins, then it's the end for Sky News. With what appears to be a smaller studio, lots of staff including some big names leaving, cutbacks to studios, it seems very much that the cost saving mode is in full flight.

Although it could be the making of the channel too. It's been in a bit of a lull for a few years now and the new regular additions to the schedule on weeknights especially haven't really made a huge impact.

With BBC News losing it's focus on UK news at the moment and extended periods where viewers don't feel they can get the latest news a stripped down simple format guaranteeing the news in 15 or 30 minutes could actually work for Sky at selected points in the schedule.

Wasn't the original NSW segments on an evening quite well rated, which why they remained for so long and extended to weekends and bank holidays? I think a 30 minute rotation could work, but 15 minutes while is snappy, it lacks depth.

I also think they should remove Sky News with [insert name] on the EPG anyway. I have never liked that. Most names don't even fit on and half the time it's wrong anyway. Fair enough if it's a branded programme like Ian King etc, but not standard bulletins.

I also think it will be good if they are going into a smaller studio. The current one while was fantastically used when first launched, it's just unnecessary now and just seems like a huge waste of empty space.

I remember from a press photo some years ago featuring Jeremy, Kay, Anna, Dermot, Colin and Eamonn. These people are still in place.

NSW started on weekends, a few months before the major 2007 schedule revamp that introduced it to weekday evenings. It replaced some, but not all, of the weekend double headed rolling news hours that filled most of the weekend afternoon/evening schedule at the time

NSW on weekends was bad, but in the late 00's over Christmas/New Year Sky used to air it all daytime between Sunrise and Live at Five, and then again in the evening. At least weekends had some different morning programming as well as a couple of lunchtime 'traditional' news hours
