They didn't investigate it. They assessed it and deemed it not worthy of investigation.

This looks a bit bitter than the five vertically mounted panels that were basically centered in the balcony the last few months. I'd imagine those panels were used to show their website, Facebook, Twitter, analytics and other important messages.

The panel installation looks hastily done but I'm wondering if they did it similarly to Shepherd Smith's Fox News Deck where viewers can see incoming graphics feeds, their competition and other incoming video. The big difference here is that these aren't easily viewable.

How come there are local graphics on Shep's programme? When does that occur? I thought it just went out nationally on Fox News.

Fox made him do live "tours" of new set for all the O&O's across the country when the FOX NEWS Desk appeared. This was from the tour he did on WFLD 32 the O&O in Chicago.
The problem with FOX NEWS CHANNEL on the FOX affiliates is it generally doesnt go over well. The conservative slant is diametrically opposed to FOX programming.

If that Fox News set had been proposed to The Day Today production team, it would have been turned down for being too ridiculous.

No likely because of cost and lack of creatively. Though those big ipad tops are OTT.

Anyway. Sky News Australia reporters are going to start using LiveU selfie sticks to report live. Interesting development.

According to Newscaststudio:
The device, called LiveU SmartGRIP, melds a cellular and wifi antenna with a mobile device holder and handle.

Sky News Australia plans to have about 12 units in operation among its teams across the country, but it will not, at this time, replace all camera crews.

The network already conducted what it claimed was the world’s first selfie stick interview back in February, though it did not use the LiveU SmartGRIP, but rather a bona fide selfie stick, as shown in this Instagram post:

Of course, TV news is no stranger to the “one man band” concept — with many stations, particularly in smaller markets, having the on-air reporter shoot his or her own video. For standups and even live shots, reporters lock down the camera on a tripod and stand in front of it as they would normally — but LiveU SmartGRIP gives the reporter realtime and finer control of the camera angle.

Wonder if the LiveU includes the multiple SIM solution that allows bonding across multiple carriers that their backpack links do or whether it relies on the single SIM in the iPhone?

The shoebox is still there as it was used for an interview during the 1-2pm hour over the weekend.

There is loads of July 7 bombings coverage on the Sky New catchup service. There's the whole of the 9am Sunrise hour presented by Steve (at that point) Dixon and Lorna Dunkley.

That studio with the old newswall worked really well, but I guess wouldn't look so good with today's HD standards.
