Sky News Tonight replaced with Dermot presenting Harry and Meghan: The Royal Rift from Buckingham Palace.
Whilst, Gillian Joseph doing another Covid & The Classroom special at 8:30pm.

Link to Buckingham Palace appears to have went down briefly just after 7:10, Nick Quraishi in the glass box introduced an item, but then link was restored quickly enough.

Also great see Beth Rigby back.

Seconded, I’ve really missed Beth. Without getting into the rights and wrongs of what did or didn’t happen. She is an asset in that role and I’m glad she’s returned, if only because I now know that’s it’s only 3 months til Kay is back.

Also, Gillian in Westminster for the Covid & the Classroom special at 8:30. They’ve got the light boxes in a lovely blue to match the gorgeous deep blue graphics on the screen and Gillian stood at a brand new posh podium complete with the new Sky News logo. Surely this is the first time we’ve seen it in the wild so prominently?

That's not the new Sky News logo; it's the old one but on a white background so the white box has vanished. Cropped screenshot of the lectern (which was also used for a previous special):

Wasn't there supposed to be a version of that with an outline around the white box so... that wouldn't happen? It was called a "keyline", if I remember correctly.

Watching this special, I really think they need to drop the Westminster backdrop completely. The studio works much better like this and the grainy, wobbly, over saturated shots of the HoP and Big Ben covered in scaffolding really don’t add anything.

I wonder if it is just the perspective that is off and if it may look better if that was rectified. It also seems to close but there’s something else that doesn’t sit right and I can’t put my finger on it

Why is Anna Botting presenting Press Preview standing outside Buckingham Palace? Is it necessary?! Is the Queen going to appear and hand her a statement?

I don't understand why they needed Sarah Hewson, Dermot Murnaghan, Anna Botting etc, to stand outside Buckingham Palace to read the news today. What does it add to the story? They aren't even interviewing anyone while they are there.

This is a "trend", apparently, to stand outside somewhere that's the source of the story, so stand outside Buckingham Palace looking cold for a few hours, it is believed, adds something. I've yet to see exactly what in all the time broadcasters keep doing this for various things so...

Of course the day the Queen comes out, stands in front of a set of microphones and gives a press conference will be a sight to behold.

I bet presenters hate having to stand or sit in the cold when they could do it in a studio.

It seems a bit much, considering it's a pandemic and the message is 'stay at home' and work from home.
It looks stupid having her standing outside talking to the paper reviewers via Skype in their homes.

They're key workers so it doesn't apply.

This happens every morning, for some reason. 2am onwards seem to be live however. I have no idea why 1am always seems to be repeat of midnight hour?

Although worth pointing out that 1am yesterday (Monday) was live with the Meghan & Harry interview going out live. They also dropped the press preview repeats at 1:30am/2:30am yesterday.

Not sure if Inzamam Rashid was on air yesterday, but he is today from the Osterley newsroom. Billed as “Sky Correspondent”.

I think they used to take a break in the 2am hour by showing a long-form documentary in that slot instead with 12-2am and 3-6am live excluding Press Preview repeats.
