The Sky News Thread

One thing that has always irritated me during the Press Preview is the seemingly pointless caption showing ‘#SkyPapers’, ‘news@sky.com’, ‘Your Report’, and ‘Sky News mobile app’. I can understand the hashtag (not that any participation is encouraged), but the other things seem a bit pointless?

What happened to their use of 'News Alert'? Pretty sure Sky News used to use that term on screen for stories which weren't technically Breaking News.

I was about to suggest that, the news alert seems suitable for these kinds of situations, doesn’t it?

It’s still used on the ticker occasionally.

It’s still usesd, it’s used to promote the Papers but it’s in the exact same colours as the breaking news ticker.
It was also used during the us election.

The press preview is on now and again has a 'news alert', saying 'get the first look at tomorrow's papers'. It's pointless.

Does anybody know why the 1am hour always is a repeat of the 12am hour? As in 1am is not live presented, not just the same running order. Has this always been a thing or is this pandemic scheduling?
From what I can tell, the other hours overnight, 2am onwards seem to be live.

The overnight shift is currently broadcasting from Westminster - maybe the first time ever bar elections?

Does studio 6 ever get used properly anymore? Haven't seen it on screen for ages except for the VR 'at the screen' stuff they do in some of the packages. I can't help feeling that it could be used to better potential

I thought it looked quite good actually, just a static shot of Sam but I’m starting to like the new Westminster studio.



Currently that’s the only use it gets, for stuff within packages you mention. Pre pandemic, it was used daily from midnight til 6am; and I think weekends 10am til 5pm too. Most recently seen on screen a few weekends back when the desk in the Glass Box was broke.

Studio 6 was back last night.

What time was that? The midnight news came from the glass box...did they move studios after that?
