Apologies as the post may have been more sarky than intended. It was probably more irritation than anything as it can feel like sometimes an insider will hint at a change, people will then speculate into a frenzy and normally assume an entire new look is on the way then be disappointed/upset when those expectations are not met even when nobody hinted at anything close to it and then it’s not long before the OTT ‘Tesco Extra’ type posts appear. It can all get slightly tiresome at times.
And I love a slightly cynical post as much as anyone but it does feel like people are also waiting for an opportunity to lay into the breakfast programme - Kay being in America not Westminster almost seems to be treated as a ‘gotcha’ moment, plenty of tongue-in-cheek ‘Lions Den’ posts and there’d criticism of seemingly everything from the set background to even a politician putting their coffee flask on the floor. There are plenty of very valid criticisms all in all (e.g. the ‘Lions Den’ line in the advert was naff as hell) but it’s the sheer volume of them almost makes it feel like some have taken a personal dislike to the show.
That said I don’t want to be an arsehole telling people what to post (as much as this post is probably evidence to the contrary).
I would say while I don’t think the Kay Burley presentation is particularly outstanding, I have little issue with it. The backdrop is similar to Politics Live (and I barely see any criticism of the presentation of that) and functional enough and previous @Breakfast/Sunrise iterations were in my mind worse and little to write home about - Kay sat in front of some blinds was hardly presentation dynamite, Sunrise in Studio 6 never really worked and felt very sterile for a breakfast show and there was that period in the Glass Box where they had that odd blue pattern as the show logo.
