I know some of GBN’s hirings aren’t to everyone’s taste, including yours truly, but I think it’s only fair to reserve judgment until the channel is actually on the air, Simon McCoy included.
I’m sure the reaction on Twitter to Simon joining GB News is full of reasoned, considered takes and not at all people overreacting or getting hysterical at each other.

Maybe he has untaken holiday/TOIL. Maybe he is retiring, (he's 60 in October according to WiKi) Maybe he's just had enough of telly.
His wife/partner is a BBC presenter in Plymouth so maybe that's a factor too
They separated he is now is a relationship with emma samms
In case it hasn’t sunk in yet, that’s THE Emma Samms who was the second Fallon off Dynasty...
