Peter Lane joinging the list of names being used as anchor before Sian Williams takes over in January. Since Emma Crosby left a few weeks ago I believe we've had Tessa Chapman, Andy Bell with Matt Barbet filling the gaps.

I seem to remember Catherine Jones and even Ruth Liptrot have covered bulletins during the Sky era, so I won't be surprised if at least every senior correspondent gets a go before Christmas.
Looks as though they are having each reporter anchor for a week at a time. We have Julian Druker anchor 5 News at 5 tonigt.

Technically, which is the employer of newsreaders and journalists on Channel 5: Channel 5 or ITN?
I ask that question because those who work or have worked for 5 News are categorised on Wikipedia as "5 News presenters and reporters" and those who work or have worked for the ITV national news that is produced by ITN and Channel 4 News are categorised as "ITN newsreaders and journalists".
I would guess that the "talent" are all employed by the clients, e.g. ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5. Production staff are employed by ITN and work across all their programmes regardless of channel.

But, during the era when ITN was mentioned in the title and voice-over of ITV national news, the presenters and reporters would have been thought of as ITN employees, as would the presenters and reporters on Channel 4 News, e.g. Jon Snow was a presenter on the ITN lunchtime bulletin in the 1980s and was also a presenter of the ITV coverage of the 1992 general election. Given that ITN is still the producer of ITV national news and Channel 4 News, would it not be reasonable to assume that that's still the case?
I may be wrong about this but at some point in the mid-1990s, Jon Snow stopped appearing on any ITV programmes and ITV presenters stopped appearing on C4 News. These days there is absolutely no crossover whatsoever - except for behind the scenes staff.
We'll never know the answer because it is likely that there are variations between different presenters. However, you have to think that if ITN ever lost the ITV, C4 or C5 contract, there is no way that the on air talent would leave the programme and stay with ITN. For that reason alone, I assume that they are contracted by the clients. It doesn't matter about production staff as they do work for ITN and across the full range of productions.
Channel.5.com/5news lists I presume on air talent owned by Channel 5, as they have been there between news suppliers. Some exceptions but I would guess anyone not on that website would be ITN.
