Is that apt analysis, or hopeless optimism?
I think the perception - accurate or not - is that foreigners often take a greater interest in our monarchy than we do. Many are allegedly won over by the 'fairytale' angle that we Brits are too cynical to see, even those from countries (especially America) who rebelled against the British monarchy.
Great line from Nicholas Witchell just now, regarding rumours on Twitter that the Duchess of Cambridge's hairdresser has been called to St Mary's, and demonstrating the media frenzy:
"I think our audience is far too intelligent to be taken in by this kind of empty speculation."

Those ratings are actually quite disappointing. Proves that not many people in the UK are interested in this news. This is why I'm surprised BBC World is covering this so extensively.

It is this sort of rolling news coverage that I absolutely dispise, and I think any sane news journalist probably hates the hysterical speculation as well... it makes for very BORING coverage.
I'm just glad I've managed to avoid most of this farce.

Two bulletins AFAIK 2230-2300BST presented by Joanna Gosling and Annita McVeigh and 0200-0230BST presented by Mike Embley.
How long did PBS stick with World/NC?
