Considering Channel has also had a HD upgrade, I'd expect so.
Channel moved to a new building, which happened to have one of the new sets, rather than they got a new set, and upgraded to HD.
Yes, same for Meridian which continues to broadcast upscaled.
Out of curiosity how many of the ITV regions actually broadcast their news in HD?
Maybe I am reading the comment about Channel incorrectly but it sounds odd that they did a new build and not get HD equipment. Or did they get HD equipment and are just operating it at 16:9 widescreen waiting until they can "flip the switch"?

They moved to a new building and were equipped with HD. Same happened when Meridian moved and Wales. Unsure about Yorkshire.

We will probably find out tomorrow as the test channel on Sky switched to ITV Yorkshire HD today.
The studio doesn't look that bad. The black on the long shot is bad, but the shot has been framed so that black is only beneath the screens.
Central also have the distraction of their itv branded laptops. I was hoping that this new studio would see the laptops go in favour of computers under the desks. Hopefully they're just temporary.
Yes Stuart the picture quality is appalling. After these weeks out of the studio I'm guessing that they won't go HD until they move to different premises ala Channel TV.
Seems bizarre that they didn't just put teal lights in the black sections. It's like watching a CinemaScope film in the background. Very strange design decision.
