Only a minor point. but the yellow opening titles for Calendar News bulletins just say 'Calendar', the old titles (and indeed every set of bulletin opening titles since the introduction of time) have always said 'Calendar News'

That might be due to the fact the titles were edited from the master template at ITV Yorkshire and they realised "Calendar News" makes no sense.

I'm very surprised Fred didn't go invisible...

The only upside is that during a piece to camera from Mike Pearse, he knocked a little girl's hat off. The only decent thing that came out of last night's show.

Simon Parkin mentioned that yellow was the 'in colour' at the moment, and Fred just mumbled something.

To me, yellow and black, whilst striking together. it just doesn't gradient well and the regionals look cheaper than the national brand. But I guess thats to be expected.

If you're a wasp or a strip of hazard tape.

It kind of screams "caution" to me - which would be about right if you rely on ITV to give you your news.

Yellow is not a particularly flattering colour for a studio set.

The main ITN network set sort of almost gets away with it - partly because they've kept some darker spaces, and because the yellow isn't really there you don't get huge amounts of yellow spill on the presenters (that's green and quite well hue-suppressed)

However the regional sets do look quite nasty and don't work as well IMHO.

Does feel very summery though...

I guess the thinking probably went :

"We're blue at the moment and want a change. We can't use red because the opposition does. We can't use green because, well it's horrid. Err - how about yellow then, as it's the channel colour?"

Yep - another classic bubble off the think tank.

Trebles all round.

Was that not so there was something to put in the space where it said "East" or "South" on the Belmont and Sheffield opt out versions?

I just noticed the new yellow background etc last night, very very nice yellow is my fav colour anyway ...it gives the studio a warm sunny look just shame about the news content and one of the presenters ! oh and a certain weather girl absent - what a shame

Nia Mason looking quite nice btw with her new makeover

Is Fred still meant to be leaving next July ??
