No apparent changes to the lunchtime bulletin, so there's no full blown relaunch today. Shame really...

Is there a new theme tune? Or are we left with the horrible BBC LDN theme music?

Perhaps the wrong titles were played out at lunch...

Titles remain largely the same, although they seem a bit too keen on safe areas, most of the text on straps are almost literally in the middle of the screen. But yay 16:9 anyway. That said its still not very 16:9 as there are still all-be-it smaller bars on my TV Card captures, whereas BBC One/N24 these are not present, but still much improved. Picture quality seems better too heres a few random caps.

Urgh, that looks horibly daytimey GMTV brightish muck. I prefered red. It was in need of a new look, but if it means this, then I'd rather not.

With the first two images, what on earth where they doing? Some kind of Sky News top of the hour studio fly around?

South Today really needs a complete graphical revamp. The titles, theme tune, and graphics are all vile. The South deserves better than this!

Am I right in thinking that VizRT is to be installed in the regions? That could be when a completely new look gets introduced. But I'm surprised they altered the graphics so slightly.

The 'Your Weather' caption was in Swiss as opposed to Gill Sans today as well.

They actually zoomed in on the cameraman, Sally mentioned him as the two went to the Antarctic its not a usual shot shown, hence the hole in the wall behind the projection screen.

Thanks for that. Although I live here in the South, I rarely watch it. I used to, hence my interest in the presentation. I'll probably tune in tomorrow morning now, just to see the new graphics!

That was all spoof. The cameras there are robotic, they don't normally have an operator stood behind them.

I wonder if the output is 704 x 576 rather than 720 x 576. That might explain the narrow side bars as seen in 'underscan' ?

I think they do, even if just for the main programme at 6:30.

I think the black sidebars are just an effect of the capture card.

I watched a little of the 18:30 programme and it filled my huge 16:9 without any black bars at all.
