I guess it will grow on us.......

It reminds me (for reasons that I can’t explain) of a gaming website or of a gaming console packaging*.

*says the 50yr old who’s never touched a gaming console or visited a gaming website in his life. But you know what I mean, Rob. Right?

My gut reaction was a reminder of LWT's Night Network logo from 30 years ago!

I suppose the thought process is probably similar: night time = neon lights.


Seeing that video I hadn't realised how awful most of their previous titles were. Lots of globes and world maps flying around randomly and the ones from the early 80s were just dull.

I think the only one I have any affection for is the mid 80s one, but that's only because Comic Relief did a series of 'Nosenight' sketches with those titles

The less said about the framing of that video the better.

A new look for NewsNNNight then - long overdue really. The logo reminds me a bit of the old Lightning logo for the Nine o'clock News in the early 90s.

I saw what i think was the lower thirds on BBC World News, it was a fade off fade on graphic, it should be like the Nine from BBC Scotland but with the NN logo.

Well that’s totally not what I was expecting. Was thinking lowercase, was thinking Reith Serif. Totally the opposite and shows how flexible Reith is.

Hoping for a The Nine style lower thirds given the strong NN logo.

Theme tune sounds great - is it me or has some David Lowe news theme been injected in?

It'll be interesting to see what they do with the studio for this new look.

Choosing the condensed version of Reith for the titles is an odd choice. A very odd choice.

Think it works though.
