Recorded from WCMH-TV in Columbus, how NBC announced that Biden had won the election.

From a purely presentation point, I note a clock and ticker running over that news flash.

Looks like for the Today Show but added for this news broadcast too... Copy and paste in the TX schedule? Probably excitement to get on air so understandable!

Any idea why there was no BBC news Dog on that newsflash?

Because it wasn't shown on the News Channel...

It was because the director hadn't assigned that output a Viz (graphics) engine, so no BBC News logo or ticker appeared. It was, of course a BBC News programme, Channel or not.

It looks like what happened is when it transferred back to NBC News, it fired off the locally hosted NBC4 Columbus ticker which looks transparent because the grey box is generated by NBC rather than the affiliate.

Thanks for the explanation. I would have thought they would have wanted BBC News somewhere on their intro. ITV news had theirs bang in your face. Just found it an odd thing that’s all.

ITV Weekend News is being presented by Tom Bradby Live from Washington

He’s just had to apologise for “a swear word” that was visible in the background earlier in the programme

Apparently it was at the start. I didn’t hear anything.

ITV News cut to a live feed of the crowd at the White House where there was a placard with the F word on it.

Going back to the BBC Newsflash and Final Score

In the US, ESPN and Fox Sports also announced the news.

If the BBC had wanted to be clever they could have put the News Channel to air in Final Score with the videoprinter still running underneath.

Last weekend as Boris Johnson was announcing the then forthcoming lockdown, my dad was listening to a football commentary on TalkSport and the commentator announced the breaking news.

Interesting explanation, thanks. I don't think much of the report to be honest. Maybe it's the recording, but the sound was way too loud coming in, the tick animation is weird and can't be read, and I'm not really a fan of the titles theme anyway - cables, neon lights etc. I think this will date badly for such a moment in a TV network's history.

From Tom's sign off it didn't sound like he was sticking around for the late bulletin. Has Clive Myrie anchored any of the BBC1 bulletins from Washington?

I'm not an expert so my assumption could be very wrong, but surely given the length of the newsflash and the fact that it only went out on BBC One, couldn't they have established a feed to Studio E, done the newsflash with the videoprinter staying on screen, and then handed back to Final Score.

He hasn't anchored anything, made reports and appeared live like a correspondent
