Each studio has its own separate range of radio mic and talkback frequencies so that they don't interfere with each other. There are separate radio return talkback channels too for the floor manager and sound floor assistant to the gallery. Frequency planning is a very big part of the design of studio and outside broadcast production.

Thanks for the info. I only asked because some new facilities in the US have been built where it's dynamic where everything is on one system so resources can change as needed.

Yes - that's happening in the UK too. RF-over-fibre allows for Radio Mics and IEMs to be all received/transmitted in a single location, and then routed between studios as required. There is some 'Wiber" stuff in W1 - but it isn't used by the news studios in that building.

Is that because it is not reliable enough for news at the moment?

No - got installed afterwards to allow The One Show to have coverage in a lot more areas than just their studio without requiring additional talkback transmitters and radio mic receivers.

It's presumably spelt "wibre" in the UK, if only for how strange it looks as a word.

No - it's Wiber in the UK. It's a trademark of The Wireless Works I think : http://www.thewirelessworks.biz/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/TWW-Wiber-Product-Sheet.pdf

Fair enough - searching for Wibre has led me to find a company that does some nice underwater lighting though.

They also had the Singapore presenter talking over a studio shot of the London presenter. They ended up cutting his audio and looking at the papers.

Looks like a continuation of the problems they had in the midnight hour, when news in brief seemed to get stuck among other problems

World now using newsroom background for the late morning slot. Not sure if it is also used in early mornings?

As previously discussed, with GMT beginning at 11am UK Time rather than 12, I'm pretty sure the programme used to be in B for the 11-12 slot. But its obvious that GMT is being forced to stay in C instead of B because of Victoria Derbyshire finishing a few minutes before 11.

11 to 12 British time was two generic BBC World News bulletins, the second of which was simulcast on BBC Two until recently.

Yes, studio B requires a fairly comprehensive relight following Derbyshire, plus there are several camera changes to be made, several set changes and chairs, stools, screens etc all if which have to be struck. There's also a crew change. Not something that can be done in a few minutes!

I think GMT has always started at 1200, originally the 1200-1230 slot was shown on BBC 2, but this was replaced by a simulcast of the 1130 from a Studio C some years ago. Now BBC 2 shows an hour of news channel, which has enabled World News to rework the 1100 hour into an extension of the GMT brand.

Which raises the question: why don't they simulcast GMT? Surely it makes more sense to provide some variety from the standard BBC News format which is available on everybody's TVs anyway...

With GMT starting an hour earlier, and 9am being done a NC presenter, do World News still have a dedicated late morning (UK time) presenter? If so, do they just do the 8am and 10am hours?

Ros Atkins and correspondent Naomi Grimley did a live stream on Facebook discussing the Syria vote earlier, which appeared to be using Studio D, but not its cameras

It doesn't fit easily with BBC 2's schedule. And PMQs gets in the way.

They show an hour of news channel 11-12, which could quite simply be replaced by the hour of GMT. Cut it short on a Wednesday for Daily Politics to start at 11.30. Simples...
