A completely disastrous Reporting Scotland bulletin there. Live links failing, VTs not playing etc.

Poor Sally Magnusson tried to cope, was quite an uncomfortable watch actually.

I stumbled upon a clip of this on the Daily Mail website whilst searching for another story. Poor Sally! Mind you, she seemed to be laughing it off, as there was little else she could do!

Made the cover of the papers.

I should make clear - I thought she was brilliant - hilarious and endearing. No criticisms from me for some trivial case of a wire being yanked out and a slow reboot of Omnibus.

We have ALL pulled a cable out at the wrong time at some stage or other.

Fully agreed, Gavin. It was endearing.

She no doubt had her famous dad's maxim in mind during that bulletin: "I've started so I'll finish." Smile

Catriona Shearer appeared to be the main presenter last week. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, I think she did all 9 bulletins on Monday! From 0630 to 2235.

Not sure about Friday 27th, mind you.

In other news..........what's wrong with those screens in the main studio? Everything shown on it appears to be tinged with a dowdy grey. It's reminiscent of looking through a dirty bus window!

Where's the Windowlene lady???

If your talking about the screens at either side of the desk, if I'm not mistaken they are keyed in. And its just red light box?

You're spot on. It uses LED lights to change for Newsnight etc. but they add on bits for Sportscene and other programmes. They dim the LEDs to prevent the lights reflecting on the weather/sport graphics

I'ver never understood why BBC Scotland doesn't consider going down a similar route to London and adopting a real newsroom backdrop. They have a striking building, used occasionally as a backdrop. Surely it makes sense to use this all the time as the main set? The pic below shows that 'technically' they are wired up for this. Naturally the set would need some work

Sorry, maybe screens was the wrong choice of word. I was referring to the N6 style of backdrop immediately behind the presenter, as well as the two "side walls".

Murky looking pictures.

Edit: In fact, the same one in Gavin's capture above, behind Sally M.

Oh, sorry I must have misread:)
It's probrably because the projection screens are old, and they're showing their age? Laughing
