Good to see more variety in the news bulletins. I know they all want consistency with having Jane Hill, Sophie Raworth and Clive Myrie presenting the network bulletins all the time, but that just gets old (not to mention highly predictable) and doesn't let anyone else have a chance. Let's see how Tina delivers the network bulletin, which would be the first time she's presented from the main newsroom studio.

A decent debut so far and far more preferable to Reeta who's delivery I find to be stunted and bordering on patronising.
I would expect Christian Fraser to pop up on main bulletins soon.

Has she fully left Radio 1 now? I know she’s barely ever there now due to her various commitments, but she was still seen as part of the team and popped up every few weeks. If she’s hasn’t it must be a first to have someone hosting the Six one minute and larking about with Nick Grimshaw the next.

Solid effort so far. Better than Reeta in my opinion, who still annoys me the way she pronounces PLARSTIC.

Reeta is a capable reporter but not a newsreader. PLARSTIC etc.

Yes agreed, she is a strong reporter

Sorry, but I really don't rate Tina at all. Her delivery is very Radio 1 Newsbeat and doesn't sit too well on a national bulletin. Having said that i'm not too keen on Chris Mason covering Breakfast either.
I'd much rather see others like Martine Croxall, Joanna Gosling or Christian Fraser given a chance to do the Six, who've got the News channel 'experience' behind them.
Someone who I would really like to see used more is Ben Thompson.
Re. Reeta Chakrabarti, she's come on massively and personally would rather see her fronting the national bulletin than Tina.
However, if bringing newer younger faces in is part of modernising the look of BBC News to make it appeal to a new, younger audience that's a good thing (especially as i've harked on about that in the past and the days of News channel deskbound presenters presentation has thankfully moved on).

Ben is better suited to Breakfast than straight news in my opinion (and I expect that he will replace Charlie whenever he chooses to leave, if they continue with 2 male and 2 females as the main presenters, considering Jon Kay is appearing less and less frequently). Simon McCoy seems to have been rather sidelined since he moved to the afternoon shift which is a shame. I can see why the BBC are choosing to keep Joanna at a lower profile at the minute but she, Annita McVeigh, Martine Croxall, Simon and Christian would all have been better choices than Tina. Its also a shame that Katty Kay has never had the chance to present the six or the ten on her various visits to the UK.

Agree about Katty Kay, you could also put Philippa Thomas and Mike Embley into the same category.

However, if bringing newer younger faces in is part of modernising the look of BBC News to make it appeal to a new, younger audience that's a good thing (especially as i've harked on about that in the past and the presentation has moved on).
And that is the only plausible reason I can find to why Tina was put on the rota for tonight. She has been a 'golden girl' for the BBC recently, co-presenting the disastrous Crimewatch revamp which led to it being axed and was a reporter on the BBC's Royal Wedding coverage.
Tina would be taken a lot more seriously if she changed her delivery to something that isn't Newsbeat, however they let Steph McGovern on Breakfast and Watchdog with her toned down Teesside accent, but the latter has some gravitas.
