Geeta Guru-Murty presented the Today show today on Radio 4. First time, I believe. (Not strictly television, but thought I’d mention it anyway......)

I can hear the collective gasping at Radio 4 at the ghastly suggestion that Today is a 'show'.

It's the Today 'Programme' daarhling . . . there's absolutely no 'show' about it.

I really hope they pair her up with Aaron on Friday for the Review of the Year show. That pairing has been missed.

The freelance journalist Gavin Grey grabbing the opportunities from the Christmas deficit of presenters on the BBC with two hands. He was on the overnight shift this morning (from 0100 to 0600) and then he's on the early evening shift again tonight, presenting WNT.

Ros Atkins has been hosting the past few hours on BBC World and it’s so strange to see him wearing a suit and tie. I know some people like to criticize Outside Source here but I think he’s a good presenter. It’s probably just that the format for the show seems to rigid for breaking news. If Outside Source were to cover breaking news they could just step away from using the touch screen and feed the reporters or live video directly to the screen with Ros next to it.

Instead I assume they are stuck with predetermined signal paths, images, tweets and maps that someone coded before the show. Given how touchy the touch screen (pun intended) with the software or show not loading or being unresponsive I can understand why a producer may not want to make significant changes while the show is live.
