Terrible audio on the NC today as we could barely hear Clive speaking because Matthew Amroliwala must have been standing so close and speaking very loudly to the World News audience.
I daresay they were barely an arms length apart and with tie clip mics, your bound to pick up your neighbour's sound. There are an awful lot of media crews on college green at the moment as this tweet from six days ago suggests:
The media circus larger than ever at Westminster. A colleague quips "It's like Glyndebourne but without the Pimms " pic.twitter.com/scfIlTLnJE

Yep. Sky had the fully enclosed studio, ITN next, and the BBC on the right.
I was getting irritated by the BBC temporary studio. They used standard black steel bars of the construction, over the shoulder of the presenter/contributor and on camera it looked like they were waiting for the proper backdrop to be installed and these bars would covered up.
Intresting to see that they think rolling news is cheaper than stuff like Victoria Derbyshire and Ouside Source
Sounds but right. Victoria Derbyshire for example will presumably have its own team and there's very little cross-over between its content and the rest if the channel.
Compare that with an hour of rolling news, which is usually mostly the same as the previous hour just with incremental changes.
I find the WN rolling news bulletins turgid in comparison to the NC bulletins. However I find the themed bulletins on WN, such as GMT, Global and Outside Source more engaging for the viewer.
And at least business news has regular 9 minute slots, unlike the NC where it can be shunted for breaking news or the inane #BBCAskThis.

In the past I always thought the BBC had the 'black bubble' as a temporary studio on College Green.
This time I think they went for the cheap option of a small marquee which was open to the elements.
Louise Minchin mentioned on
Breakfast
one morning that she was "having to lean forward to avoid the rain" while sat at the desk.
It's clear from the set-up that the BBC anticipated a remain result and was planning to only have the structure up for 48 hours. It definitely isn't fit for hosting near-constant rolling news for several weeks. Sky has nailed it with its structure. The BBC could have opted for the structure it used at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. (or at least something slightly smaller but similar) It would have looked amazing with the backdrop.
