For some reason, the location part of the live bug has a grey background as opposed to the usual semi-transparent white.
Victoria Derbyshire is using generic BBC News astons instead of the ones normally used.

I have to question the decision to opt out of World on the News Channel.
That's not to say the programme is not actually serving a role in all of this, and sticking with live pictures from Saint Denis, but I would like the option to go back to the more traditional news coverage from World

That seemed to happen last night too. The music was faded out instead.
Rather strange opening to the 7pm TOTH on the news channel.
The long titles played but it looked like someone had hacked a chunk out of them as the music didn't seem to marry up with globe transitions on the visuals.

Better change my Facebook profile picture quick. Oh wait... there's no facility to. Guess the hipsters in Silicon Valley don't care about dead Africans.
I wonder if the Mali national anthem will be played before Premier League games tomorrow?
Now we have the Mali Attacks.

Incidentally, the temporary profile picture change feature was being tested back in September. I would imagine that, eventually, you can do it for whatever reason with whichever images you like.

[offtopic - yes I know I started it and I'm already self-flagellating as I type this]
That's as maybe, but its unequivocal overtly explicit implementation in this instance where anyone who choses not to do as they're told is in danger of ostracising or criticism leaves me a little wary and suspicious. We already have enough things on social media which trigger the tw*t in people, why add something else?

Indeed, it's akin to the Poppy Fascism phenomenon that Jon Snow named. I was merely pointing out that it may have been cynical as a way of testing the feature, as opposed to a cynical feature being created because of the first world interest.

During a major breaking news story, to avoid a clunky crashing out, can't the presenter say that "Rolling coverage of this story continues on the BBC News Channel with (presenter name)"? And then exit in an orderly fashion, maybe with a brief globe shot like at the end of the bulletin normally and join the simulcast in an orderly way.
