Yes it was on a tape delay for the first four years or so but then they decided to show it on PBS and BBC World News only. I think special programs have been shown, like the US Mid Terms in 2014.

It was delayed, but not on tape...

What does this new 'pushback' thing do?

It 'pushes back' (i.e. zooms back) the main gallery feed, shrinking it, to allow additional graphics to be added on the right. Much like News 24 used to do in the early 00s with their second graphics gallery.

Reminds me of Sky News' HD side-panels:

Only the back half hour of Outside Source went out on the NC, they took the PM's Lord Mayor Banquet address instead with Chris Rogers presenting.

Except they had no push back. They were just overlays.

Sure. Same basic concept though. A panel of additional information on the right hand side of the screen.

I would say the last days of CNBC HD+ was a type of pushback. When the channel started it was just 4:3 picture pushed to the left with graphics to the side. But in the last year or so of graphics package it was clear that at a minimum there was a 14:9 frame pushed to the side.

Having trouble editing but here is a good example of a pushback that NBC's O&O KXAS in Dallas Fort Worth uses at times during severe weather. It allows them to keep an eye on the main story while rotating live shots and radar show supplemental footage/information.

Today again showed how silly the RSS headlines could be. Who were the attackers? You tell me!

Personally I'm not against the use of the RSS feed but shouldn't it at least tell something?

Why can't they just turn off the ticker overnight instead? The channel managed without one for years, remember!

Yes. I think it was CNN who were first to use a ticker on screen in the aftermath of 9/11, everybody else followed on shortly afterwards ?

Who remembers the BBC news ticker that you could install on your PC ? My company's IT dept blocked its use, because they said it was hogging too much bandwidth ! Very Happy
