Yes, the agenda for this programme is just not suited to 9pm when there is a busy domestic agenda. Feels remote & irrelevant. Another period to be avoided on the BBC News Channel.

Not enjoying OS, especially when I've seen nothing from Alton Towers or Mansfield, two very close locations to me.

They're killing the channel. Not providing UK news on a day of big UK news is a massive letdown.
I feel the unscheduled OS at 6pm was justified given the Blatter news which had just broken. But in a day that has seen major breaking news stories from the UK, it seems to be a major misjudgement if these don't get covered in the evening on the News Channel. They should have dropped the 9pm OS.

Just crap isn't it. Those running the BBC News Channel should remember it's British viewers who pay for it.

As much as I like both OS and Business Live, OS on BBC News channel is on at the wrong time it just dosent work and it didnt today
OS should be only on for half an hour, maybe do this at 9:30 and have the news at 9:00 as before.

You mean they aired OS at 1800 BST and 2100 BST? Wouldn't it have been easier to just proceed the with the standard 1800 newscast? That just kind of baffles me to air a different show designed for the world audience in place of a nationalized show.
For some reason I initially thought the UK would get all three editions of Outside Sources.

The Mansfield story was featured in the World break around 2145 with a BBC correspondent on the balcony speaking to Ros.

If that is what happened, then it's worth pointing out that the usual programme that would have been on in that slot was going out on BBC1, which in theory everybody who can get the News Channel has access to.
Arguably if World have something on at the same time as domestic bulletins that can be shown in the UK without rights issues, it's better to show that and give domestic viewers that choice of viewing.

Normally the News Channel would carry a simulcast of the BBC One Six O'Clock News.
However at 1745/50ish Sepp Blatter resigned during a hastily convened press conference. That's a major breaking story. Far better to offer the option of breaking news coverage - via Outside Source - on the News Channel, with the Six O'Clock News on BBC One as an alternative, than not offering breaking news coverage at all and continuing with the simulcast of the BBC One bulletin? The breaking news wasn't domestic (or 'nationalised'), so no real issue with taking a BBC World News produced programme covering it?
If you wanted to watch the Six O'Clock News you could see it on BBC One, if you wanted breaking news coverage of the FIFA News you could get that on the BBC News Channel. Sensible decision to me.

Between Outside Source and Business Live I think the latter is certainly doing a better job around the WN opt-out time, although this may be due to the format. There's no musical sting for the opt-out point at around 8:45 on Business Live, just a brief pause in the style of 'We say goodbye to viewers in Scotland who leave us for Sunday Politics Scotland... still to come', and then the opt-in sting is very brief (must only be a second long), and there's no reintroduction to the programme, with it instead moving straight on to the next story. In comparison, Outside Source uses musical and graphical stings in and out of the WN opt (I note they changed the opt in one today so there's moving footage before the music begins so there isn't a five second static shot), and there's a welcome back-ish thing once World opts back in, which is generally much clunkier and not as slick as Business Live.
Neither programmes use the opt time to give a time check, which is something I thought they'd do.

There would be no point in giving a time check, unless you say "It's 21:45 in the UK, 05:45 in Tokyo, 16:45 in New York" etc, which would be a complete waste of time.
