I am glad Outside Source and Business Live will be coming to the News Channel we can finally hear those theme tunes as intended in surround sound Very Happy

Ros Atkins tweeted the other day that rehearsals for Outside Source on the NC begin this weekend.

Why ? they are not changing the format are they?

Well I assume there will be at least some UK focus?

It's mainly because it will be coming from a different gallery to the earlier editions made for BBC World News. There's a lot of Mozart and connectivity stuff to get right with OS, not least all that touchscreen routing jiggery-pokery etc.

Is OS coming from the weather balcony or is it being changed?

OS will still come from the Weather balcony, but it will come through Gallery A rather than Gallery B.

Looking at these simulcasts and it actually goes to show how much the licence fee cut is now dictating the content of BBC News - I'm sure the Tories won't be complaining that the BBC News Channel will have roughly a third less time dedicated to UK news, meaning a third less time to air criticism of the Tory government or simple report the cuts that they're making.

At least these latest round of cuts are at times when they're not likely to be in workplaces or when people are watching, unlike the controversial Derbyshire replacement during the morning.

Does this mean it is a news channel produced hour rather than World or is the later not taking this edition?

World are taking the new hour so I presume they would also be producing it

How come they are using Gallery A not Gallery B? Unless the letter is just the studio and if there is a problem Ros will be in Studio A.

I've said this on here before, I think as they are trying to save money the NC should opt back into Breakfast for the last 15 minutes to cover the gap between Buisness Live and Victoria Derbyshire. I know it means getting rid of the first shift completely but makes sense in the climate.

Rather than opting into breakfast would it not make more sense to opt into BBC World News instead.

I think the NC should rather opt from Breakfast at 7am to join WN (including Business Live) until Victoria Derbyshire programme. Breakfast is just news for the first hour, and then breakfast television from the second one. The NC should carry the first hour of the programme.

I'd rather they didn't carry Breakfast at all, and just stayed with BBC World News. I think it would make more sense than switching to Salford for 2.5 hours, then back to London.

While possible as they don't show back half hour features shows, Breakfast has domestic news regardless if it comes from Salford, London or Outer Mongolia.
