I know they've been in BH for a couple of years now, but still think the main shot of the presenter with newsroom background is fantastic. Even down to the red colour they used on the control room walls, it all looks really nice on screen.

They've managed to make a studio look warm, yet vast with the newsroom at the same time. The newsroom looks fantastic with the night time lighting.

I still think it would be less distracting with a bit of frosting like there was in N8.

This is one thing I'd been fearing about them doing. I personally hope they don't touch it.

Spot on. It's the best newsroom-looking studio in the World and the beeb know that. Wink

They done that to the original Midlands Today studio in the Mailbox and ruined it IMO.

The worst thing they could to is to frost the window, it still looks fantastic.

Looking at that, they could have do a fantastic mini version of Studio E in there. What they have now is nice though, just I'm not a fan of the fake newsroom background.

I wasn't suggesting a Midlands Today or post-2008 frosting with the swirls - a slight blur to give greater focus on the presenter in my opinion would be better. After all, we're watching for the news, not a crystal clear backdrop of people working...

I'm not sure the distracting sight of people going up and down the stair case with Sainsburys carrier bags, motorcycle helmets, coffees, and stuff they've just nicked from the stationary cupboard (only joking) is particularly 'World Class' ?

Let's just cover them up then, and they can project a fake empty newsroom on to the former windows? That would be world class.

If you're going to make the real newsroom part of the set, then the invision personnel need to adhere to various behavioural rules, otherwise it can look almost comically 'common' You'd never see anyone wander past with their shopping on CNN or Al Jazz

The backdrop in E is rarely "crystal clear", there are usually depth of field effects which blur it a bit.

But CNN and Al Jaz have very contrived shots and newsrooms. The spiral stairs in the back of shot of the BBC News studio really are the main stairs... If you have to leave the building to go home, you walk up those stairs. If you have a carrier bag - you have to carry it... There are lots of behavioural rules about where not to stand (as there are far worse places...)

Martine Croxall has tweeted that she is only presenting two more midnight bulletins on the BBC News Channel. Do we presume that BBC World are taking over earlier from June?
