Just me that thinks that would be a nice shot as an alternative for standups on the catwalk? A bit of tweaking and shoving that camera out of the way, and it would be a nice, and fresh allternative.

Needs more lighting.

Could the BBC News Channel in Studio E almost do as Sky Sports New HQ does and have the presenters sat the other side of the desk for some times?
Could.that work technically?

And the background would be a black wall?

Simple answer no. The cameras do not go that far round, plus it would be ridiculous. The studio is designed so the cameras face the newsroom hence why the set is oriented in that way. If you were to move the cameras to face the other wall you'd have, as DanielK said, the studio wall as well as the blurred out BARCO. Also you would be able to see the computers in the desk, but the presenters wouldn't defeating their existence entirely. Furthermore, the LED bar on the rostrum would limit chair space making it uncomfortable for the guests anyway.

Although, if they could get the whole central circle to rotate so that the presenter is backed by the middle screen, and get Mosart to amend its settings (eg presenter closeup shot is now camera 3 not 5 etc) at the same time, that may work. Of course, it is a lot of work for sweet nothings.
