I can’t see what any of that has to do with this thread. Alastair wouldn’t have featured in any such promo anyway as he wasn’t the main presenter of any bulletin. He was seeing out the days until his retirement with a fairly light schedule of cover slots, albeit with a lot more gravitas and presence than the usual cover presenter would have.

Who’s Kylie Pentelow? Don’t recall ever seeing her, and I watch a lot of ITV News.
Alastair’s departure leaves Tom Bradby as the only male ITV newsreader. Nina Hossain, Mary Nightingale, Julie Etchingham, Charlene White, Ranvir Singh, Kylie Pentelow and Lucrezia Molinari all present the main bulletins. I make that 1 male, 7 women women who regularly present (not including the more random stand in appearances from Chris Ship etc). Will ITV be looking for a new male newsreader I wonder?

Alistair was still on regularly, but doing the Lunchtime news.
Haven't posted for a long while, but feel pretty sad about this. I pretty much grew up with Alastair on London Tonight and latterly ITV News so will be strange to see him not presenting any more (even though in recent times he hadn't been on as much). Will be intresting to see later down the line whether Alastair comments any further on this.
In a way I feel like this would be a good opportunity for ITV News to have a bit of a refresh (less presentation wise, more presenter wise). Although I actually don't mind Tom Bradby too much (he has definitely grown on me), I feel since Mark Austin was sidelined and left, there's been something missing. I think ITV News needs a 'core' team feel back like it was was a few years back (like the below promo). At the moment it definitely feels more Tom being the 'brand' then the others. Would be great if Tom, Mary, Julie and maybe even someone like Ranvir or even a new fresh face were seen more equally as part of the 'brand'.

Clearly not at weekends.

Nor the Christmas period or bank holidays.

Kylie Pentelow presents a fair amount of weekend & bank holiday national ITV News bulletins.
She is primarily the main female anchor at ITV News West Country, although she has been on secondment at ITV News Cymru Wales for several months now. It was announced last week that she is returning to the West Country programme soon.

With regard to Kylie, it’s my understanding that West Country were considering a permanent replacement for Kylie. In the end, they decided It’s Better the Devil You Know.

Meanwhile it appears outright statements of bias on social media are perfectly acceptable if you work for BBC local radio.

Lavery is stating a political view shared by half of the population and has not directed anything at any one person. There's an argument to be had about whether it's appropriate for a BBC journalist to state this publicly but this tweet is not comparable in the slightest to Alastair Stewart's, which proved controversial because they could have been perceived as targeting an individual based on a protected characteristic.

To be fair, I think this is implied. I think although it is fairly commonplace, it's fairly obvious that she doesn't speak for her employer.
