I'm a bit late to this thread but wanted to say well done on all this. Some excellent layout diagrams and renders.
My favourite news eras have to be the 2nd gen N8 cream/red News 24 set and the N2 national news in 1993, so it's nice to see you've covered both.
The breakfast redesign a few pages back would also be interesting to explore as its arguably one of the most high profile national sets that really needs an overhaul. I feel a lot of the recent BBC sets are rather sterile with the minimal set dressing and backlit plastic, frosted glass and grey panels so any design which works in some softer elements like bookcases, mixed materials (wood, carpet and small areas of chrome or brushed metal) would be good, IMO.

Thanks, I've been thinking I might work more on the diagrams and maybe, for the new place, try to create a guide to the various BBC News studios using these recreations - as I know many people express confusion at the various studios.
Well my intention for that was to create a set that mixed the decidedly BBC News features of a set with a more homely feel - something that could be relaunched with the tag 'The Nation's Living Room'.

After talking about the Breakfast set yesterday, I took a look at it and suddenly had a bit of inspiration. I've expanded the remit of the set - although it would be primarily home to Breakfast, the recent BBC devolution white paper that suggested that some shows like Newsnight could occasionaly come from outside London has made me think that the set could also function as a BBC News North - taking the occasional current affairs programme or even the odd network news bulletin. So I've decided to not make it too bespoke and the bookshelves would be removable.
I've built the main bulk of the set up. I haven't started on the backgrounds, but the left-hand set of windows would look out onto the newsroom (it could remain the Sport newsroom, but would be done up like the NBH newsroom) and the right-hand set would look out onto a lounge area with the plaza in the background (this area would function as a green room while Breakfast was on the air). The shot across the quays on the LED videowall is a placeholder, although I'm not entirely sure what the most appropriate backdrop would be - my main idea is a sort of UK landmark montage with an urban foreground and more rural, hilly background.
Here are some test shots of BBC Breakfast:
