BBC Newsflash announcing the end of the miners strike in 1985. Note the badly aligned wording on the newsflash caption at the start of the video.

God, I'm sure I remember watching this.

If I'm not mistaken, there was an onscreen text alert announcing the end of the strike in the programme prior to the newsflash.

I was 11 at the time.

That's right, it flashed up during Dad's Army
I remember watching it at the time and getting a shock from the unusual huge text coming out of nowhere

This video showcasing the 1995 BBC Two Christmas idents and bumpers starring Wallace & Gromit for the premiere of A Close Shave over 25 years ago, has a full clean version of not just the idents, but also the later, cleaner "Neon" soundtrack:

Wonderful consistency, seeing as Top Cat is the official name of the cartoon and always has been, but it had to be renamed over here because it happened to be the same as a brand of cat food. Though you could hear Top Cat throughout the music and the show, yet the titles always crashed into what I've always assumed was a hastily made up Boss Cat slide.

Of course as things turned out the cat food brand that caused the problem stopped being used and TC ultimately lost his Boss Cat slide. (though you can still find "Top Cat" on various cat food tins in places like Pets at Home although that's not the prominent brand, its more of a slogan)

What was the story with the musicians on Play School getting a verbal credit from the CA rather than being on the credit roll?

I've got a Radio Times where someone complains that they always announce who the pianist was but never say who wrote the story or where the window film was, which might be more useful if you wanted to buy/visit it.

Presumably they wanted to keep the credits to an absolute minimum on air, and it was easier to use the same credits every day.

Always wondered with this one - is Fluff responsible for switching himself into vision? If not then it's not just him who messed up!

TVS South East continuity from their first week of transmission. Note that Brian Nissen is enthusiastically promoting the servic as TVS South East, and the new start time for Crossroads. Also worth noting the early opt to Watch This Space meaning you get about a second of TVS South continuity, with a different announcer. How long did the split continuity late for?
