Well, looks like the guy who started this off needs to eat his words. Date passed, just tumbleweed.
Why would he do that? He can just say that the plans have changed after last minute discussions, or they've simply been postponed. As for his sources, their confidential and the people who told him could lose their job if they're revealed.
It used to be up to the reader to verify things that sound unusual, but we seem to have simultaneously developed the ability to believe anything that's put in front of us without question, and the desire to be seen as in-the-know, leading to people making up all sorts of nonsense just to get recognition.
