They said that about Samantha Fox and
Mick Fleetwood.

Agreed, Ant & Dec were the only reason why I watched the Brit Awards this year and last. The show's going to die without them IMO.

I mean this in the nicest possible way and I'd always encourage new contributors to this forum, but please shut up.

People watched the Brits long before Ant & Dec were involved, and will still watch them long after they're gone. People still watched it for the several years it was James Corden for god's sake.

I'd like to say the hosts don't matter, but if the rumours of Grimdick clambering aboard to take hold of the hosting job are true, I'd quite like to see the figures plummet just to drop him down a peg or two... or several more.

They're no Ant & Dec.

That kind of defeats the point of a forum...

The key words there are 'before'. No presenters are going to even come close to Ant & Dec now.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Dermot given the gig next year - surprised he hasn't done it already really and I think there is enough time between the NTAs and The Brits for it not to matter too much he's hosting both.

Yeah, it would be the right type of show for Dermot O Leary. Another possibility would be Ferne Cotton.

I think it might be a decent filler for ITV2 maybe, to repeat former BRITs, similar to BBC Parliament do with elections? Do ITV retain the rights or it is only for the live broadcast?

Have parliamentary elections ever been compared to the BRIT Awards before...?

I doubt they have, no Very Happy

I doubt they'd rate too well but a series of previous performances, similar to what ITV3 did for the Royal Variety, could do OK. I don't think ITV2 are even repeating the ceremony this year though which I'm sure they used to do a few days afterwards.

I have no idea why Nick Grimshaw seems to be so widely hated.

I can't say that I've ever seen very much of anything with him involved, maybe just his occasional guest-hosting on The One Show and such like. On the basis of what little attention I've paid to him, he seems a perfectly alright and functional presenter. If anything, I've found him fairly non-descript/vanilla/nothing special/forgettable, and so am pretty indifferent towards him.

What is it about him that seems to garner so much hate from so many?

Hate is too strong an emotion to waste on someone you don't like.

Maybe all of the people who hate him aren't actually the target demographic for most/all of his regular projects (such as the Radio 1 breakfast show, which I've never listened to)? In which case, maybe he *does* actually appeal to his intended audience?
