I feel I've said this before, but...

He's a name-dropper, he insists on having his face appear at any sort of celebrity occasion including the infamous uninvited appearance at one of Jonathan Ross's Hallowe'en parties, he's of the T4 clan that reeks of arrogance, he insisted Robbie Williams was too "irrelevant" to play on his show despite him being #1 at the time which gives the impression he's too keen to appeal to anybody under 16, he possesses this annoying sense of "look at me, I'm on television" through the way he speaks and the way he looks, he seems to progress to high profile jobs like The X Factor and Children In Need despite lukewarm-at-best reactions to his work on Radio 1, and some will argue he didn't succeed at filling Chris Moyles' shoes manning the breakfast show.

Of course though, (the majority of) these are just a matter of opinion, but I can't deny they could be shared by others.

To be fair he's far better on TV than on the radio - he's basically carried the late night portion of Children in Need for the last couple of years and has been unfairly scapegoated for The X Factor's woes.

I think the biggest problem is to a generation he represents a changing of the guard at Radio 1, a time when established music DJs were kicked out in favour of what appeared to be hangers ons of celebrities. He sells himself as one of them rather than one of us.

I half expect them to drag Stephen Mulhern in, he seems to do everything else on ITV these days!

I'd like to say the hosts don't matter, but if the rumours of Grimdick clambering aboard to take hold of the hosting job are true, I'd quite like to see the figures plummet just to drop him down a peg or two... or several more.

This doesn't sound obsessive at all. Your way OTT hatred for "Grimdick" (always hilarious btw. Comedy gold.) is bordering on creepy now. I worry your're one "Grimface" (do you lol when you come up with these?) rant away from a Broadcasting House massacre.

I'm sorry if my opinion upsets you. And yes, I find the wordplay sidesplitting, so much so that I plan to take it to the Edinburgh Fringe this year.

I don't think you should care at all. If you subtract Grimdick, and add Grimbore, I think you'll find it's my opinion as well and I'm 20.

I have no idea why Nick Grimshaw seems to be so widely hated.

I can't say that I've ever seen very much of anything with him involved, maybe just his occasional guest-hosting on The One Show and such like. On the basis of what little attention I've paid to him, he seems a perfectly alright and functional presenter. If anything, I've found him fairly non-descript/vanilla/nothing special/forgettable, and so am pretty indifferent towards him.

What is it about him that seems to garner so much hate from so many?

Hate is too strong an emotion to waste on someone you don't like.

Maybe all of the people who hate him aren't actually the target demographic for most/all of his regular projects (such as the Radio 1 breakfast show, which I've never listened to)? In which case, maybe he *does* actually appeal to his intended audience?

I remember him from his T4 days. I look at the list of T4 presenters on Wikipedia and I see name after name of presenters I dislike.

His intensely vacuous and boring breakfast show only compounded my dislike of him.

T4 was much better in its earlier days- when it was live and in Channel 4's foyer, it got progressivly worse from the time they farmed it out to the company that made Popworld, bunged it into a studio and pre-recorded it.

I'm afraid I'm 20.

Have to say I really enjoy him on the breakfast show. Never listened to R1 before but got into his show and now it's on in my car all the time.

Also don't see why he's so hated. I find him funny and entertaining to watch.

Personally I think part of the hate he still gets is because he followed Chris Moyles and while you either loved or hated Moyles he still got over 8 million listeners and did the Radio 1 Breakfast Show for 8 and a half years. I honestly don't mind Grimshaw and I used to listen to him but just preferred Moyles and glad he is back in Radio again.

The same will happen with the new Top Gear, the first episode the BBC transmit with Chris Evans and co it will all be over facebook and twitter it isn't the same without Clarkson, May and Hammond.

I wondered if there was a connection with your posting name... Wink
