I think it might be a decent filler for ITV2 maybe, to repeat former BRITs, similar to BBC Parliament do with elections? Do ITV retain the rights or it is only for the live broadcast?
Why would anybody want to watch previous Brit Awards?
That's like repeating the 1999 National TV Awards.
I'm sure a repeat of the first one would be very popular!
It was available online in full at one point - maybe still is
I doubt it. Early Brit Awards have little to no relevance today.
Would work in the way that BBC Four TOTP repeats do... Nice bit of nostalgia for those old enough to have watched the first time round. Though I suspect the recording of 1989 might have been conveniently lost down the back of the sofa...

Not really comparable. One's a music charts show, the other is an awards one.

Both contain performances of contemporary music - but in different settings. I think the awards element could be edited down a bit - but think they would still stand repeated viewing. I don't think people are watching TOTP specifically to see what was moving up and down the charts 35 years ago, it's more to capture a feeling 'of the time' which another music show would also do.

It's rather disappointing that a full recording of that show that used to be up on YouTube has been taken down. There are little bits up on there, but the whole thing really was a wonderful watch. So utterly shambolic.
Neither it doesn't appear on the secondary main video streaming site.
Which is a shame, because I was lucky to watch that when it was available in full, and its quite amazing. Like a stricken fully loaded oil tanker heading at full speed for the Puffin colony, you couldn't take your eyes off it.
It just kept getting worse and worse.
