BBC Three Closure

Ooops, I mean "Goes Online" (February 2016)

For me 60 seconds was best when it was a straight forward bulletin. When they started dressing it up and giving it themes the point was lost as far as I was concerned. Also, the current look (on air since 2008 with some very recent tweaks) is the worst.

Incidentally - perculiar this page lives on, and without the normal 'archive' warning (which I guess it escaped by being part of 'news'):

Even in the 60 seconds ticker there was a mention of it being the last night on TV.

Agreed. I still think the early days when it was stylised to match Liquid News was the best era. Though it's hard to believe that 60 Seconds has had the same theme apart for 13 years (disregarding the remix in 2008).

I'll miss it! It inspired the BBC1 8pm bulletin and it's still a worthwhile news 'hit'.

I think they both owe something to 5 News Updates. I hope they dig Machines R Us out for the final bulletin.

Not only did it inspire the 8pm, but there's also this, the BBC Minute.

They've chosen a genuinely brilliant episode of Don't Tell The Bride as their last ever one. BBC Three fact ent got some rough press over the years but this episode in particular is gloriously good TV.

James Corden introduced Gavin and Stacey from the set of The Late Late Show, explaining how BBC Three was a huge part of his life and career, and how grateful he was for "taking a chance" on his and Ruth Jones' creation. Nice touch.

Surprise surprise, hardly anyone on Twitter is excited by the move online.
