The new NEW Central West and BBC Midlands thread

I actually prefer the older view, although it is reminiscent of the 'ITN Atrium'.

That sofa doesn't look as though it's of the usual design. It actually looks more comfortable, as the seat seems to be angled down at the back.

An interesting setup tonight on Midlands Today and ITV News Central. Both will be featuring Bob Warman and Nick Owen together revisiting their former school Kingsland Grange in Shrewsbury.

Jo Malin had great pleasure making it known that she's presented with both during the preview on the lunchtime Midlands Today.

Interesting report that showed Bob/Nick's shared heritage, as well as demonstrating that the Regional TV divisions of the BBC/ITV can work together (remember the talk of sharing video content?).

Loved the 'Tie' comment from Bob.

Thanks for bringing that to our attention - didn't think at all they were around the same age, let alone in the same class. Having had Central as our main region for the bulk of the 90s and beyond Bob Warman very much is the face of local news to me.

There's been a hd ob scanner parked up behind and connected to the studios this weekend. Ready for the hd switch? Central west looks very nice on air tonight actually.

Good to see Wesley producing a special series of reports this week. Perhaps he will take over from Bob when he leaves? As Matt Teale also has other commitments.

Matt could easily change his Sky and BFBS commitments to return full-time at Central.

I think it would be unlikely for Wes to be the main presenter (As much as I would like to see that!) especially as he has never hosted a main 6pm programme and only the Weekend programmes. Steve would be next on the pecking order should Matt remain Part Time.

Has he indicated he'll be retiring anytime soon?

Well at the age of 69 and 42 years on screen, retirement probably won't be far away.
