The long-drawn out sighs... the numerous pauses for dramatic effect... the overly emotive language... the bizarre knitted ties...

I've got it. He's on a wind-up, isn't he? Mark and Julie will re-appear on Monday with the old format and not a single word will be uttered by anyone from ITV or ITN about Bradby or the mess he made of News at Ten.

Much improved running order and story count. Tighter pace tonight.
Still can't abide the editorialised role of the newscaster though. No problem with Tom Bradby, would just prefer a sharper (& neutralised) delivery.
An improvement, nonetheless.

Edit: ah, the tighter pace was because it's back to its normal runtime... Thankfully.

There will be a U-turn in the New Year, for the sake of News at Ten's future. If he stays, it'll go and that would a terrible shame.

Did any one record the last news at ten with Mark and Julie ? Did they make a thing of their departure ? Truely awful decision they were true professionals, spoke 100% properly plus had a great rapure and chemistry on screen, both had a dry sense of humour which came out often ie like here, bit old but a goodie :-

You would'nt get either of them saying gonna thats for sure ! Someone needs to tell Bradbury...

Mark mentioned that it was his last News at Ten and said goodbye. There was no mention that it was Alastair's last one on Friday

I wonder how long it will take ITV bosses to realise they've made a massive mistake?

If NaT stays in its current form (even with the relaunch next year), I can easily see it being axed in 2016.

Peter Fincham (who is supposed to have chosen Tom as the main Newscaster), has destroyed the legacy and popularity of News at Ten, in the space of 3 days of 'soft relaunch' happening. As a viewer i'm horrified by the changes - it honestly doesn't seem to be a 'news' programme anymore. It's just 30 minutes of Tom giving the viewer his opinion. Shocking.

More overreactions in this thread than the day someone wore a black tie to work.

You clearly didn't watch the 'News at When' era when Sir Trev had to read out banal celebrity stories. Now that was seriously dumbed down television. This isn't.

I would actually contend that it is quite funny and not really out of order given it hasn't been cropped or taken out of context. If that's what King of Wishful Thinking finds funny and wishes to post, he surely he can - freedom of speech and all that. It's not offensive, it's what Mark Austin genuinely said and that video clip is a darn sight more intellectually rigorous than some of the criticism of the new ITV News at Ten programme - although I'm not saying that the new style is particularly good (it must after all be some good news for our friends over at the BBC, at last), some of the comments are about as insightful as the comments on MailOnline and seeing as you aren't exactly a moderator it is not within your remit over what people can post.

I strongly suggest that you don't go around strongly suggesting things*.

It's not entirely off-topic, and "funny or not funny" is entirely subjective, and not for you to rule on.

*IRONY.
