To be fair those series have been far more entertaining than many of their recent efforts. Keep it in the Family gets a second series this Saturdat at 7pm - I'd be surprised if it got a third. Ninja Warrior is also filming in the next couple of weeks so I'm guessing that's being lined up to air sooner rather than later - the turnaround was pretty quick for the first series so wouldn't be surprised if it's paired up with The X Factor live shows, although really it would make more sense to hold it back to January where ITV have nothing really for the 7pm slot.
Showing Ninja Warrior with X Factor is probably a big no-no. If it were to air after X Factor (before a same night result show) then Rochelle Humes would be on The Xtra Factor and Ninja Warrior at the same time. And putting it before X Factor would probably put it up against Doctor Who, which quite frankly would be suicide.

I think Ninja Warrior will be sacrificed against Strictly. It's aiming for a different audience. Dr Who usually goes out against XF.

Of course this year is more complicated as ITV have 8pm Rugby World Cup matches on 5 Saturdays from 19th September to 17th October. At least 3 of those matches feature England, and the big one England v Wales.

Could there not moved X factor to Sunday nights? for those shows? I don't think the live shows start until mid October anyways?

Looks like The X Factor will start back as usual during the last weekend of this month - Saturday 29th. The show is being broadcast again in the US on AXS TV, beginning the 30th of August.

Also looks like it will air two shows a week once again.

I'd say Ninja Warrior up against Doctor Who or more likely Strictly would actually be quite good complementary scheduling.

Comparing it to a recorded programme from last week the HD DOG doesn't seem to be different. Having a quick look at SD that seems to have moved to the HD position.

Seems they've dumped 'HD' tag from the bug. And a tad bigger.

What a strange programme this Real Stories with Ranvir Singh is. Just sat through a frankly useless 10 minute interview with the two founders of Poundland in their mansion. There wasn't any particular reason why they were being interviewed, it was just 10 minutes of them explaining how they became rich and how he got deep vain thrombosis.

I wondered why the HD logo had left the channel when the output is still in HD. Not as discreet as the old DOG.

Is the SD feed a direct downscaled version of HD now maybe?

It could be. Murder She Wrote was broadcast on both HD & SD as a 4:3 picture with the black side bars where as SD would usually stretch the picture.

The dog was a set well into the programme so a long way from the corner.

Eh? None of the main UK channels intentionally stretch 4:3 content.

There is an annoying 'feature' of Sky HD boxes set-up for permanent 1080i or 720p that mean they will output 4:3 SD stretched to full width 16:9 1080i or 720p rather than pillarbox it.

If you leave your box in automatic/passthrough mode it will output SD content with aspect ratio switching and correctly show 4:3 content in 576p pillar boxed, or however you have set your TV to cope with 4:3 SD content.

Murder She Wrote is a good point though. It's been re-mastered in HD, but the transfers ITV show are pillboxed. If this is broadcast 4:3 on SD then ITV have the ability to aspect ratio flag HD content on their SD channels, rather than defaulting to 16:9. (The HD Masters being broadcast will be a 16:9 HD signal with black bars left and right as there is no full-width HD format that could be used)

Thanks for that noggin. I knew that it was intentionally stretched, but didn't know there was a way to get around it in SD.
