its not a bad show just not suited to bbc news, just seems so out of place, I remember a few years ago when few of us complained about the lack of variety on bbc news channel, i remember one of the insiders defending the fact that its job was to do rolling news and we'd never see what we see daily on bbc world news, but now it is actually happening and with more simulcasts with World yet to come.
Don't me wrong - the programme itself is fine. It's just somehow misplaced. But due to the quest for ratings, I don't think this programme is going anywhere on BBC's dials. Slightly off-topic, Outside Sources seems ok on N24. At least that has a slightly firmer focus on news as we know it.
Does somebody have the average ratings figures for BBC's channels? If N24 is underperforming or one of the lowest rated channels, maybe that would explain N24's radical shift.

Starting with an "exclusive" that isn't in any way timely or topical doesn't seem like the way to establish that your new programme has its finger on the pulse of the news agenda.
In fact I'd say that starting with something that is liable to polarise opinion in lieu of real news is a pretty cynical exercise in attempting to get social media engagement.
I also found the frequent pleas for viewers to share the films and videos online pretty grating - if the content is good people will share it organically, you don't need to beg them to do it.

And ran on the 1, 6, 10 and again on the NC in typical fashion.
I wasn't sure whether it ran on the 10. I saw it feature on the headlines for the 1 and 6 and also saw it being played, but it wasn't in the headlines for the 10 so was not sure whether the report was played.
Also on the 1, Reeta gave a little promotion following the report for VictoriaLIVE but Sophie did not on the 6.
After being disappointed yesterday, I really tried to give this programme a chance again today.
The dementia feature was a very well-made film and it is absolutely right that there is an outlet to highlight this issue, as well as the transgender feature yesterday, and I'm sure the many more 'beautiful films' that will be shown in the future. I'm just till not convinced the News Channel 9.15am-11.00am is the right place to do it - ratings or not.
But, the holy grail of the News Channel is - at the very least - knowing that at precisely the top of the hour there will be news headlines (however brief). This morning, the weather started at 10.01am, with the news headlines at 10.04am. Then, at 10.08am, in the middle of the General Election campaign, we're treated to Victoria Derbyshire showing a clip to the sports presenter of Radio 1's Greg James playing the News Channel countdown track in a nightclub, and having a good old laugh and joke about it.
That's the nail in the coffin for me - my Virgin channel has been changed to 603.

Last time I checked the BBC News Channel was quite a way ahead of the other news channels across most, if not all, parts of the day. This has been the case pretty much since Freeview started to become widespread. BBC News Channel certainly wasn't underperforming. However I think that the funding cuts that DQF have delivered (which News backloaded to allow them to safely move to W1 - i.e. they didn't reduce their staffing levels as quickly as other bits of the BBC did) are beginning to bite, so the additional funding that BBC Two is likely to be bringing to the output is probably not insignificant. (Effectively BBC Two are likely to be subsidising BBC News)
Sky News were ahead of News 24 in the early days, when most viewing was on Sky Digital, but as News 24 and Sky News both became universally available, the Freeview platform became significant (and more Freeview viewers watch BBC News than Sky News by a significant amount)
The series began airing on 7 April 2015 on BBC Two and it will run through until the 2015 General Election on May, 7.
Does this mean that the program will finish for the election? Only 4 weeks?! I thought it was an ongoing thing?
Probably the poster mistaking it for the election programme airing at 8.30 or 19.30. I would be surprised if VL was just an interim programme given the amount of money they apparently invested to prop VD, studio B etc up.

Victoria in todays show kept on calling it a 'new programme' and honestly sounded like she had used the exact same script for her welcoming as she did on yesterdays show.
Apparently the Victoria Derbyshire show started with 100,000 viewers on BBC Two yesterday (1.1% share), but down to 80,000 by 11am. No figures yet for the News Channel simulcast.
I also caught a long winded segment about the new passport control changes where Victoria was struggling with the touch screen along with long pauses. After around 7 mins, we eventually got a live from Folkestone!
