A bit of role reversal this year with the X Factor, usually we would get the US version when it started, but since that's been cancelled, the US this year will take the UK version which will be broadcast on AXS TV, (formerly called HDNet.)

The new bootcamp stage has been revealed today by producer Mark Sidaway as he tweeted “Hands up who likes my shiny new X stage?”

*

I didn't think too much of it at first and thought even less of it when I thought back to the US bootcamp stage last year

*

When you look at the detail that has gone into the US one and then look at the "new" UK one it looks pathetic, don't you think?

The difference being that the first picture was taken on a cameraphone and the second is a screenshot from the actual show with proper TV cameras Wink These things always look different on screen than in real life.

Whilst I'm in the criticism mood, can I just say that I feel the overall presentation in terms of set, on screen-graphics and the bloody judge's desk is weak. I get that in the USA there is more competition and obviously the team wanted to pull out all the stops to make the whole show look polished but the UK show deserves to be modernised a bit.

Now the USA version has been put on "hiatus" I imagine they didn't just sell of all the X stuff such as the desk why didn't they just move it over here, something I can't imagine as being too hard would be the the desk, whilst only maybe a small thing to others I think is important. A comparison between ours and theirs:

For a few years we were stuck with this, which I was actually fine with up until the USA version began
*

This year it has changed
*

But honestly, look at the USA one and you immediatley notice how the USA has so much more invested in it - even now.
*

*
And the versatility of it.

No sorry I should have pointed that out and I'm sure it'll look ok on screen when you have all the lights going and stuff but it doesn't feature the additional extras that the USA one has that gives it... the x factor... sorry Embarassed

Is that not the live show stage?

To be fair, American almost has to have everything better, bigger, more 'grand' than the rest. It is like that with everything to be honest.

Nope, I remember they always used the one similar to ours.

I agree with you tweedledum but with X Factor being born here it shouldn't have lived and somewhat continuing to live in the shadow of the US version. I do wonder why they haven't, as of yet, imported any of the material... such as the judges desk.

I'm pretty certain that the live show stage was shaped like an X.

Now I'm confused, the USA getting the attention it did it probably did despite us being stuck with the same live show stage for a few years now. The bootcamp one definitely had one too.

You have to consider the fact that XF USA had double the budget of XF UK. I'd imagine the American sets are the property of Fox seeing as they paid for them.
