They did stop to announce and celebrate the winner again tonight. it seems to be the norm now.

Which is sensible as your commentator will let you know when they can't be caught anyway. But it's also important that every countries votes are represented and final placings are on the board.

Who wins by the way? You used spoiler tags but not included a real spoiler. It'll save us having to watch tomorrow night.

Also wasn't it partly logistical last year as the winner had so far to go?

Yes the green room seemed to be miles away from the stage in a different building and I think that was the reason why they announced it early. I hope they don't do it again, it really messed up the flow of the voting and made the other countries' votes seem pointless.

Oh. Just seen they are doing it again. How daft.

I'm guessing this is one of the satellite feeds for broadcasters?

I know most broadcasters probably use fibre, however are the details available as to what satellite / freq that this feed is on?

The EBU will have made them do that to test that everything would still work fine with the graphics should that actually happen during the show, note that when Greece comes on the scores have been reset and it says that they are the first country to vote so all's good.

Pretty much every voting rehearsal also ends in a tie so that they can make sure the tiebreak situation works.

You're probably right, but surely it wouldn't be handled like that in the proper show? Surely whoever gets the votes would check them before giving them to the spokesperson? It's one thing announcing Greece instead of Armenia for example- but getting points for a country that isn't in the final at all, surely they'd think to go back to EBU and clarify?

Isn't this because the EBU wanted them to give mock points to Armenia and they kept refusing?

That was last night apparently- the 10 points today were actually for Iceland.

Other than mass incarcerations, I do wonder what the Azeris would do if they actually did have to give points to Armenia on the night, if they made so much fuss at a mock vote...

While we're talking about rehearsal voting melt-downs, I'll just leave this here (still one of my favourite YouTube videos!):

Probably the same as they did in rehearsal and stuff it up until Jon Ola Sande has to read them instead.
