'It's like buying a Ferrari and keeping it in the garage!' Good Morning Britain viewers complain Susanna Reid is stuck behind a desk... before finally appearing on the sofa
New ITV breakfast show premiered on Monday morning
Susanna, 43, is reportedly being paid £400,000 for her new role
But she will only work four days a week, and will have Fridays off after a two-week 'settling in' period
Main complaints from viewers were that Susanna's legs were hidden behind a desk

She made the life-changing decision to defect from the BBC to ITV earlier this year, to front new daytime show Good Morning Britain.
But as Susanna Reid, 43, made her debut on the fledgling programme on Monday morning, viewers were quick to point out that the presenter's best assets were not being utilised by the show's bosses.

Shortly after the programme premiered at 6am, Twitter was awash with comments from critics who complained that Susanna's trim legs were being hidden because she spent the majority of the time sitting behind a desk with her co-hosts.

One viewer commented: 'Why has ITV paid so much for @susannareid100 only to put her behind a desk? Its like buying a Ferrari and keeping it in the garage #gmb.'
In fact, it was reported recently that Susanna is earning a staggering £400,000 for her new role on Good Morning Britain, which sees her host alongside Ben Shephard, 39, Charlotte Hawkins, 28 and Sean Fletcher, 30.
But the overwhelming opinion of viewers seemed to be that the desk was ruining their view, with another writing: 'You don't hire Susanna Reid and then stick her behind a desk #getyourpinsout #GoodMorningBritain.'

Hence why I don't read the Mail. Anyway I am away to put my Ferrari in the garage until tomorrow. Night

There has been focus on her legs on GMB than there had been on Breakfast. Much to tabloid media disgust.

Well they'll have to perv when she is away from the desk - she might be sexiest in the poll next year

Only the Daily Mail and The Sun focused on her legs, and when that's the only thing the Daily Mail could find fault with they must be doing something right. Or very, very, wrong!

James Worlds News says the pros of This Morning would work well and I agree that engaging with viewers is essential and I completely agree.
Perhaps something like The Hub could work and with many embracing social media they need to move to this more.

Disagree - breakfast TV needs to be concise with people often only catching 10-15 minutes, so they want to get the news, not random peoples opinions on the news. I think they've got the balance with this pretty much right so far.

30th apparently in the latest FHM poll. The Daily Star seemed to give as much coverage about the supposed lack of legs on GMB from Susanna as they give for Big Brother! Makes a change from bashing the ratings for GMTV/Daybreak I suppose?

So you hope they *do* start changing things then?

Although I agree with your suggestions. I wonder if Andi Peters will be used as cover for Ben Shepherd?

I guess i do yes Very Happy , but just removing Andi Peters and Ross King to begin with, on a technical level they've already fixed the clock there was an odd fade effect but fixed the next day.

Removing Andi Peters would be a great place to start - those slots are awful

UTV revamped their Daybreak studio for GMB ( noticed it hadn't been posted).

Thought UTV and STV might have their news branding under the Good Morning logo in the way the ITV regions have ITV News.

It's a different situation, though. During GMB, ITV is in charge, contracting STV/UTV to produce regional content for their show. Maybe ITV didn't want non-ITV branding to be used.

The regional opt didn't go to plan in the Meridian region a moment ago. All we got of Ben Shephard's intro was "Manda", introducing Amanda Piper.

I have to say, I do like GMB very much, I can't actually point my finger at what's so good about it other than I can watch it without feeling patronised (barring Andi Peters)

You missed out the Daily Star, who started obsessing about her legs on Sunday and continued the story until Tuesday.

I've watched GMB this morning from 7.30/7.45am for the first time this week flicking between it at +1. Overall, still too GMTV/Daybreak for my liking, fluffy interview with Will Young, while on +1, Susanna Reid was talking to the audience like they're a child, while their feature on Peaches Geldof featured a live interview with some nosy parker claiming to be a friend who 'warned' her friends that she may be on drugs.

The chemistry when all four were at the table seemed false and contrived. Did it work for me? To be honest, no and needs more work over the next few weeks and months.

Anyone know if those news feeds on the small screens are real or not?
