I think that depends on the make/model of the box to a certain extent, doesn't it?
Could this be related to the fact James Vertigan appears to have an old version of the Sky+HD EPG? Mine updated a couple of months ago.

My box is a Samsung. There's a newer box downstairs which is a 1TB but I haven't checked if the channels are still appearing on that.

A press release from bid-up.tv from September 2000, the article mentions falling price auctions as well:

That is interesting - I wonder what made them stick to one format in the end?

I do wonder about the falling price format and why they stuck to it years later, people claimed it made them money but surely they lost money on the items?
I'd like to see some footage from bid-up's early days. There was a site not shoppingtelly.com but another one which had a load of screen grabs with the set i posted a few posts back and the original graphics.
I'm quite surprised that none of bid-up's early days are on youtube yet.

They probably scrapped their falling price format because they weren't making enough profit from their items. They could have always lowered their P&P. They'd still make a profit from the P&P because it doesn't cost much to package and post.

The model ultimately became flawed as they sold the products at a lower price, with the losses recouped by the P&P and call charge being higher.
People are savvy enough nowadays to consider the total price of getting the product and compare this to online sites - and even the high street. The problem was, you could get the same stuff elsewhere for less money.
They ditched the falling prices on Bid to change this model - so the P&P and call charges were lower, with the product prices being slightly higher. Problem was, people were used to the low falling prices, so it failed too. Arguably, the change was too little too late as well.

Great find. They even have one of Bid's favourite Audio Network tracks and a look-a-like set. I wonder if this was all created since Bid closed or if they were planning to launch anyway. They are on channel Sky 682 from 18:00 - 19:00 each day. Did anyone see it today? I assume it isn't live.
EDIT: Further research suggests it is these guys (Bright Ideas TV) with a slight rebrand...
OMG! The Whizzy Mop.

WARNING:
I just phoned the number for Discount Store TV. After the automated message confirmed that I was through to Discount Store TV, I pressed 1 to place an order. For some reason, this put me through to some guy called Oliver who was watching Two and a Half Men on ITV 2. I spoke with him for a while. Nice chap, I don't think he works for Discount Store TV though. If you decide to give him a call this evening, please be polite and say hi from Television Forum.
