ITV News London have had packages on from other parts of the country if they're relevant to London. Mainly from the Anglia (where London doesn't cross over editiorally) and Central regions.


Err - Anglia and London regions do cross over editorially though. Essex is a border area, and stories about Stansted (which is in the Anglia region but one of London's airports) are of interest to both regions.


As I quite clearly stated, I said from areas which DON'T crossover with London. One story was from Northants with a tenuous connection to London.

I have no issue if London takes copy from Essex, Herts or South Beds where there is clear crossover.


Ah - to be fair I think your post can be read both ways...

Either as a statement that Anglia doesn't cross over with London, or a conditional that only Anglia stories that don't have a cross over with the London region were not relevant. I read it as the former, you meant it as the latter I think.

It's a 'newsroom' of sorts, basically it's some desks they strategically placed behind the perspex screens, so it's fair to say South East Today and Midlands Today are/were the only regions with proper newsroom backdrops


Hmm, I thought that could be the case, but then I thought I would have heard of that before now. That means they have a fair bit of space in the studio, at least.

Well it looked like the Meridian team were in elation at the end of the show just now. Both Fred and Stacey saying the "goodbye" word - Stacey throws her arms up at Sarah Gomme while Fred shares in his excitement with a joke with perky Parkin. It's a happy day...

AIUI the SET studio is, or was, a relatively small space at the end of the newsroom. It wasn't a separate studio (as say Norwich has). I believe this is still the case.

I don't often get home in time to watch Meridian Tonigh... oops I mean... ITV News Meridian but I couldn't believe the amount of promotion for other ITV shows in Friday's show. One for Endeavour, another for Britain's Got Talent. Took up at least 10-15 mins of the show before Perky came in with his weather chat. I don't know about other regions but it almost became like one big promotion for ITV programming. Just because Amanda Holden happens to be born in Oxfordshire is a tedious excuse for a report in my opinion but then again I suppose this is happening a lot more now and we just have to accept the fact this is what warrants "local" now.

What's happened to BBC South Today (Oxford)'s half an hour show on Friday evenings? Now it's like every other day (10 mins local news then handover to South Today). Very disappointing Sad

I believe it was a victim of one of the BBC's cost-cutting exercises. Sad.

Amanda Holden is actually from Bishops Waltham in Hampshire, but yes still a tedious & very tenuous link Laughing

Hmm.... ITV have posted a job on their website for an on-screen journalist to 'work as part of the team delivering the new Thames Valley service' (full job posting below).

Have I missed something? Will Meridian be split again?

With the return of a more apparent Thames Valley region to the Meridian News two pilots of the West and Thames Valley programmes have been uploaded.

Updated titles for the Thames Valley region and it looks like the Thames Valley and Meridian West bulletins merge in this edition after 10 minutes. However when the East version is introduced to me is unclear.

Ten minutes for the Thames Valley as an opt-out of the West bulletin was in ITV's proposal to Ofcom.
